Largest TV Piracy Site Shut Down, Staff Arrested – dailytech.com: Marking the first closure of its kind against a UK-based piracy site, TV-Links.co.uk was raided and shut down by British authorities late last week. According to the United Kingdom (FACT), the raid also culminated with the arrests of the site’s 26-year-old webmaster and part of the site’s moderation staff. The raid was carried out through a coordinated effort involving investigators from FACT and the local police.
Yes, that’s quite nice that they shut down a link site that hosted no content whatsoever…
“It’s a pity the Gloucestershire Police started with such small fry. There are a couple of multibillionaires called Larry Page and Sergey Brin — the founders of Google — who provide vast numbers of links to content that is being illegally distributed,” wrote Jack Schofield, a blogger and commentator for The Guardian. “Indeed … they actually host plenty of illegal content on their own video site, YouTube, which has a UK operation.”
“This effectively makes the entire internet illegal,” wrote ‘Rich’ of The New Freedom. “A man is now in prison because he runs a site where other people can link to low-resolution TV shows, hosted by Google. FACT did not raid Google, they raided a site which merely links to TV shows.”
I guess a site like this one, that sometimes features youtube videos, could become a target for the authorities.
That’s right John Doe here. I am here to express how absolutely absurd this is and how embarrassing this is to global communities. Most points have been covered from how it is now illegal to direct people to locations where information exists, but let’s get to the real point here people. Google has immunity! Why?! Billions of dollars answer that question. Yes , it is sad that the right to distribute information rest in the hands of the rich. Hell, I pay a cable bill, but what happens when I miss my favorite show? I go to tv-links, but that is all impossible now, and for what? The arrests of innocent individuals? How ironic is it that only the innocent have been prosecuted! They merely hosted links to the information. This site actually prevented those from pirating media. Now all those who were regulars to the site are now forced to find there media by more illegal means, and this is sad. I considered the site a way around pirating and completely legal, but obviously i was quite wrong. Now, lets look at this again in a different light. Lets suppose that an unknown search engine (of poor people who do it for the people) were to host links to such sites and were the basis of another site (dummy site like tv-link) . I think they they would have been taken down in an instant. What do you all think. Which brings me back to my point. Money, Money, Money, it is dirty and evil, but we all want it and we all need it. So, what we need now is a new site (google.tv-links.com) because it would be perfectly fine then, but before I ramble to much let this be said. Those who agree with me should start a petition to release the innocent people that were victimized in this pointless arrest. Really how hard would it be for those links to be resurfaced on to a new site on a new database, and it will happen. Lets just pray that it is hosted by someone rich and powerful, but then again why would they waste their time? Piracy can not and will not be prevented, and that is just how it is. They can only delay the efforts of communities. Maybe next time they will actually make an arrest against piracy, and not against some kids who made a site with some links to low quality vids.

You don’t have to register… or worry about it being shut down (by British authorities or otherwise). Hope this fills the gap left by the tv-links. Enjoy!
you should take a look at http://www.ovguide.com to see other players in this field
this site was taken off the net not for what they were doing but for the content in the site in paricular the documentary section which exposes the free masons all around the world for the evil that they truly are. they have got to these innocent people and soon they will get to us all …
Wow, very surprising. This isn’t good. Now all of the shows that I miss on tv (and doesn’t air again until they do reruns all the way down the line) can’t be watched.
tecniclyy speaking. You do not download from there site or servers. All they did was post the html link on there web site. If they did manage to download the material it was not downloaded from them but from other sites. All they did was make a index useing only text and pictures. That means for evey picture poster and anything to do with music move or data that has something to do with anyones site that is licensed
will be fined or arrested. Thats like saying the news cant record anything and show it on tv because they would have to get a concent from eveyone that is going to watch it and if one person dissagrees then they can show it that means that what they recorded is now piracy even if they are the ones that recorded it to begin with. Or you cant lesen to music on the radio. If they really carred the would of stoped some of the ones where you do download.
in short “it seams to me all they wanted to do is point a finger at the poorist person so that the goverment would pay them and the guy would be taken away so they could get the money… and every think would be barried” varry low if you ask me.
So thats what happened 2 the site huh.,…… sux 2 be them
huh, leave this guy alone. He is good and TV Links was the best TV site with frequent updates and nice movies of the past. I love the site and i know everybody loves it too. Couldn’t believe it. So much good television. So much we can’t get here in the states. I would have paid someone to be able to keep that site open if money were the only consideration. I think others got their nose out of joint and like others have said, picked on the little guy.
But honestly, this is unfair. Why are we shut out of watching tv from all over the world? Why say, if we like a show in England but can’t get it here because we don’t live in England, can’t we do a pay per view thing at least. There are lots of shows I love that I’d be willing to pay a few bucks for to be able to watch. Now EVERYBODY loses. No money for shows. No more interest in those shows from a much wider audience. And no way to watch anything in the future.
Absolute sucking lemons useless bureaucracy that does no one any good. I think those who shut tv links down should be ashamed of themselves.
haha oh but tvlinks is back up as tvshack but tvraid is better…
