No need to reprise details of my opposition to Bush’s War, here, today. I went through the same crap during the VietNam War.
Opposition never lessens my concern for those in peril – neither the innocent civilians nor the troops who could have spent their time in better service to our nation and humanity.
This is an excerpt from an email forwarded to me from a Marine:

I wanted to share with you what we saw in Washington DC last week. After the mid-term brief we toured the Mall and made the usual stops at the WWII Memorial, the Wall, Lincoln Memorial, etc. At the Vietnam Wall we saw something unbelievable. We noticed three small index cards at the base of the Wall. I knelt down for a closer look and noticed that a 4-star general’s rank was pinned to each card. The cards were personally addressed and said something like:
These are Yours- not mine!

Your Platoon Leader,

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs had laid down his rank for his boys who died in Nam just the day before! I later found out that 1 Oct was also the same day he stepped down as chairman.

And in the mean time, the Beloved Leader has not attended a single military funeral. (In addition to little things like trying to cut back on combat pay, limiting VA medical eligibility and cutting back on VA medical budget, and just today thanking the Blackwater mercenaries for their sacrifices, as if they were members of the military.)
Here’s info on Guido Farinaro. And here’s about Pete Pace, where he mentions Guido Farinaro. Guido was the first marine under Pace’s command who was killed in combat.
#3 – I still think it’s a touching tribute of remembrance to those who served alongside him. He’s remembering where he came from.

There’s no “finding” involved. Anything that has anything whatsoever to do with the “president” (using the term loosely) is guaranteed to be negative. That dimwit hasn’t done a decent thing since he stole the election (I know, I know, it was Daddie’s friends the Supremes that stole it for him).

as far as the story goes… meh… /shrug lets see some generals who have troops dying in the two CURRENT wars do something like that
“Perfect Peter” is a political slimeball who is partly responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans due this ambitious and subservient attitude. I hate to say that as a former Marine but it’s true. i am not impressed.
If you’ve ever taken the time to listen to Peter Pace speak, you would know his words come from his heart and in his role, there is nothing more important to him than his troops. When was the last time you placed your stars, or medals down to pay tribute to a fallen hero. This isn’t about politics…its about a man doing something…that most of us wouldn’t think about doing…and he could probably care less that anyone captured the fact that he did it. I’m glad he did, and having served for the man, it confirms the respect I have for him.
Pace’s action remembering his fallen comrades and his tenure as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs are two distinct things. That small card 40 years later shows someone still remembers. That is a good thing.
I just wish there would be more of those kind of higher ranking Soldiers in the military today…

Every day I’m bombarded by thoughtless selfish greedy little basturds harping up the war while whining about their pain not making enough at $100,000 to lead the pigheaded dream in their big empty houses. Foolishly I once mentioned the motorcycle ride our group took mid summer to see the “wall”. Asked why and didn’t it cost a lot for gas from these boys that will pay $3.50 for a coffee latté I could only think about my name missing from those rolls where many I meet had ended. No glory for me see I wasn’t a volunteer no I was drafted and I think it’s what we need today to slap the shiite grin off these harpy thoughtless selfish greedy little basturds faces.
I came to this party late, but I know where I was in 67.
Lets draft all federal critters children and all others with a college degree.
