Melted remains.

The new iPod Nano is hot. But Danny Williams of Atlanta said his iPod Nano got hot enough to burst into flames. “So I look down and I see flames coming up to my chest,” Williams said.

Williams said the burn hole from the pocket of his pants marks the spot of his 15 seconds of flame. He said he had an iPod Nano and an glossy piece of paper in his pocket. He believes the paper shielded him from being burned. “I’m still kind of freaked out that after only a year and a half my iPod caught fire in my pocket,” said Williams.

His 15 seconds of flame? ROFL!!

To make matters worse the Zune is going to work with the PVR built into WMC and let you play those videos back on your tv at native SD resolution.

The odd iPod battery failure is the least of Apples problems.

Please note that the iPod shown in the picture is a first generation iPod nano, not the new third generation video iPod nano.

I’ve seen this happen to iPods that have had their batteries changed by unauthorized dealers and highly questionable batteries.

I remember when the leading cause of “pants on fire” was telling a lie. Now it’s an iPod in your pocket.

    Hot pockets?

#5 once and for all… Mac is the model, Apple is the company…

  6. Rogue says:

If you watch the video, he shows us his pants, a piece of paper, and the iPod. Now look carefully – nothing was actually on fire. He is sensationalizing the whole thing.

I believe that the Nano became hot and caused a smoke, but did not catch on fire. If it did, there would be burns on his leg, holes burned into his clothes and the iPod would be black and crispy, not warped like that picture. The piece of paper that was in his pocket at the time would also be ashes, not a whole piece of paper with a dark spot. Also remember Apple did not make the battery, this is probably some other company’s fault. Remember the Sony battery recall? It affected Dell, Apple, and several other companies.

Don’t get me wrong. I feel bad for the guy, but why soup up the story so much?

but why soup up the story so much?

Because Apple has lots of money. Levis doesn’t.

This is US of A there is only one answer “SUE”

  10. Glenn E says:

Perhaps he had the opening theme to MIssion Impossible on his iPod. You know, the “this message will self-destruct in….” part.

I wonder if iPods come with any Fire Protection plan?
