How is it possible for someone to out-stupid Ann Coulter? Oh, yeah. We’re talking about Rush and his attacks on vets who, unlike him, risked their lives in Iraq and now are calling for change. Here is an article from, of all places, Fox News which discusses Rush’s boss’ trying to weasel him out of what he said. Fox seems to be trying to have it both ways: condemn what he said, sort of, while not attacking their close, personal friend.

  1. Pmitchell says:

You are wrong ! Dont listen to moveon propaganda. I listen to Rush and he replayed the audio ( you would think if the idoits were going to point fingers they would choose some one who doesnt record every word said during his show and sells it for profit ) He is clearly speaking of a single soldier who is a fake , the soldier claimed to have gone to Iraq and to have also to have received a purple heart and was lying about it all .

  2. moss says:

It’s been made clear on a number of news programs that Rush has released an edited recording – just for fools to utilize to advertise their misguided loyalty to chickenhawks like Rush and Bush.

  3. Sinn Fein says:

Sorry all you double-digit IQ America Haters, the Proof of the Truth is recorded and verified.

I am truly enjoying Harry Reid & CNN hanging themselves by their balls. By all means, join them or, better yet, go blow yourselves up with your homemade IEDs.

  4. moss says:

#3 – thanks for proving my point.

  5. Jason says:

I don’t think I could say it any better than the previous commenter. Dvorak you need to check your stupid level before you go out calling someone else stupid. Rush Limbaugh has been on the air for over 20 years, do you think that he would make a stupid mistake such as downing the military, especially when his show is broadcast on MPR or Military Public Radio. Rush was calling ONE SOLDIER fake because his story was fake about witnesses atrocities and reporting that to the media. Actually, that soldier was never in combat and only served a limited amount of time in the military. I swear, don’t let the liberal media band wagon snatch you up without you even knowing about it.

  6. Sinn Fein says:

Yeah #2, let’s hear MoveOn.org’s and MediaMatters edited audio, bet that’s really entertaining BS.

Good Luck with getting “The Fairness Doctrine” aka rip up the 1st Amendment…that come into being, I’ll enjoy it being fully applied to the main stream media.

  7. Half Moon says:

Brian McGough is a phony soldier. He is a VETERAN (soldier past tense).

Brian McGough is a true American and a true vet and he USED to be a true soldier. He goes against the commander-in-chief therefore HE IS A PHONY SOLDIER. Yes, he had to leave being a soldier to see that the president can be wrong and lead soldiers into an unjust war. But the only reason he can see that now is because he got hit on the head and now he can see things more clearly.

Rush was talking to one soldier and therefore he was sharing his comment on “phony soldiers” to make the caller feel good– to show that he is on his side while others are belittling the sacrifice that soldiers are making (regardless of the war being right or wrong) Rush is trying to support the very people who are dying so armchair soldiers and pundits can say whatever they want.

  8. Mister Mustard says:

Does anyone actually take this chickenhawk blowhard seriously anymore? The Nigerian Scam has more credibility than Rush “Anal Cyst” Limabaugh. Fer Chrissakes, Bill “Loofah Pad” O’Reilly is l ike Winston Churchill compared to this looney tune.

That he would sit on his big fat Anal Cyst and call combat soldiers “phony” when they disagree with him, then release a phony edited audio clip lie his way out of the hole that he dug himself into….does this surprise anyone??

  9. Libertican says:

The real story is the dueling faux “thin skin” reactions from partisans that include the Petraeus/Betray Us reaction and this asinine coordinated attack on Rush Limbaugh. So its the battle of the kingmakers, Moveon.org vs. Conservative Talk Radio. Unfortunately, our elected representatives are the pawns.

  10. god says:

Most TV networks, this morning, have their own copies of Rush’s unedited chickenhawk crap – on air. Same as mediamatters.

Must be that commie pinko liberal media conspiracy.

  11. MikeN says:

I was going to include this under the Twisting the News post, then I thought you beat me to it, but it turns out you actually believed the story!
Here Rush was talking about Jesse MacBeth and others who pretend to have served in the military and make up stories of war crimes. I’m not sure whether the New Republic guy Beauchamp counts as a phony soldier, but he definitely made up his stories of war crimes.

What’s funny is that one of the main people attacking Rush is Sen. Tom Harkin, who for many years pretended to be a Vietnam veteran flying combat missions.

  12. Hmeyers says:

Ah, this is all distortion and basically a lie.

Apparently the 2008 presidential election is now underway.

There isn’t a downside for democrats to attack Limbaugh, they want to energize their base.

  13. Greg Allen says:

1 >>He is clearly speaking of a single soldier who is a fake , the soldier claimed to have gone to Iraq and to have also to have received a purple heart and was lying about it all .

    He clearly was speaking generally.

I’ve heard the whole thing. YOU also heard him speak in the plural.

Rush was generally calling anti-war vets phonies, giving one guy (I’d never heard of) as a prime example.

This is a standard back-peddling technique of these right wing media bomb throwers.

They say something like “Liberals are Benedict Arnolds”

If called on the outrageous blanket statement they say, “Waa! You took me out of context! I was ONLY talking about Benedict Arnold — not all liberals!”

If further pressed on their outrageous insult of patriotic Americans their final refuge is the claim, “I’m just a humor show! You should apologize to ME.”

  14. joe says:

typical commie story promoted by Dvorak. The line was taken out of context and tried to turn into a story by the troop hating liberals, That is the very definition of irony

  15. Greymoon says:

Uncle Dave what are you doing man? There is enough falsehood and rhetoric on the right to criticize with out twisting the facts. Why are you becoming that which you hate and being disingenuous. Fight the good fight with facts not spin.

Know your enemy to rise above them and conquer, not to wallow in the trough of deception as them.

  16. Pmitchell says:

Mr Dvorak got what he wanted , people reading and posting their opinions and ad revenue from page laods , I used to complain about the left leaning of the blog but then they quit the rhetoric and did only pisc and some old tech news and the blog just wasnt as interesting, I disagree with he left wing leanings but at least it is entertaining and people debate

  17. MikeN says:

Media Matters is doing its job and trying to take down Hillary’s enemies.
Despite the Democrats’ attempt to criminalize politics, the best attack on Rush Limbaugh came from Al Franken.

  18. >#8 man, chill out.

Lo siento, compare, pero no puedo.

You just gota love the right-wing “family values”, support-our-troops neocons.

If they’re not adopting a “wide stance” in the mens’ room, screwing Betway (or southern belle) courtesans, chasing women with their Loofah pads while wifey is at home, or dodging military service, they’re making complete and total assholes out of themselves on TV and radio.

Ana Cyst Limbaugh does this every day, but this time, he really outdid himself.

He should go back to the Vicodin addiction.

  19. Osmodious says:

Ever notice how people who oppose this administration always present well reasoned and calm arguments and those that support it just attack everyone?

    Just wondering…

(I won’t even point out the comparative grammatical and spelling skills of each side, just read the posts every day and decide for yourself who are the ‘double digit IQ’, to borrow a phrase, troglodytes)

  20. Mr. Fusion says:

    #21, Osmodious,

As a rule, you are very correct.

Even more silly is the number of Administration supporters that claim to have read the unedited version and are still in denial.

  21. Jennifer says:

What the hell? Did the IQ level inn here just drop eighty points, or did someone send the freepers in here? (Not that there’s a difference…)

  22. >>Even more silly is the number of Administration supporters
    >>that claim to have read the unedited version and are still in
    >>denial.

Semi-literacy has its benefits. The Anal Cystites don’t fully understand the unedited version (or the edited version, for that matter); they just listen to what Anal Cyst has to say about it, then they shake their heads “ditto”.

  23. Angus says:

These comments so clearly and sadly show how politics have gone from debate to hate, and clearly on both sides.

  24. Axtell says:

Obviously those defending Rush are either (a) misinformed and have only heard his edited comments, or (b) blind loyalists to a man who has no conscience.

  25. mark says:

    14. That about sums it up for me also. Nice job.

  26. grumpy says:

The truth is out there for those who seek it! Read the transcript!

  27. iGlobalWarmer says:

I call Godwin’s Law. Media Matters is being run by the ghost of Himmler.

There’s certainly nothing resembling “reliable information” on that site.

  28. Andrew says:

I’m apparently one of the right-wing nut jobs that several people are talking about. I wasn’t listening to Rush on the day he made the comments. However, I’ve listened to him for many years and he’s been consistent in what he believes. I don’t know any public personality that has more respect and admiration for those who serve this country in the military than he does. I don’t believe he would say someone is a “phony soldier” because they disagree with him. There have been people throughout our countries history who have claimed to be veterans when they are not. These people are phony soldiers just as I would be a phony doctor if I said I was one. I’m far more likely to believe Rush than Harry Reid.

Oh, and he was addicted to oxycodone not vicodine. (Not sure on the spelling of those. Does that make me an uneducated idiot?)

  29. Li says:

The Ministry of Truth lives in the hearts and minds of the gullible. Any inconvenient fact can be sent down the memory hole, never to be thought of again.

  30. Li says:

I once respected Rush, when he consistently upheld conservative principles. Nowadays, he is a court stenographer, even as the court destroys the party and the principles he once held dear.

I can’t help but think that the many offenses he wasn’t charged with over the oxy case (that same month, another Florida man, in a wheelchair, caught with less oxy, got sentenced to 25 years in the slammer) are a Sword of Damocles over his head, and he has to do what he is told or he will find himself in jail. A few more years before the statute of limitations are up, and perhaps we might be able to hear what he actually thinks. Too bad I won’t much care by that point.
