Next week, rhino rhestling!

  1. Les says:

(Whispered) Just remember to go down in the third round.

  2. Nick says:

Is this happening on the Mike Vick estate in Virginia?

  3. I haven’t seen this personally, despite having seen many giraffes in the wild. But, certainly giraffes of both sexes have horns. The males tend not to have any hair on theirs. It gets worn off in fights like this, presumably over territory or breeding rights. So, while I had not seen it nor seen footage of it before, it is not surprising. I think fights like this one are probably fairly rare.

  4. Mr. Fusion says:

As I watched this video, I started wondering about our fascination with violence. How we love to watch men fight (boxing, wrestling), dog on dog, dog on bears, even women on women. In the wild we think there is something “romantic about a large predator taking down some game. And this, I guess, is no different.

  5. BillM says:

It’s interesting how as they move around the area they push right up against each other. As I watched this I thought about my children as they grew up. You could place them on a 2 acre plot of land and within 5 minutes they would be standing next to each other making faces, poking each other and just generally teasing the hell out of each other.

  6. jdm says:

It must be very frustrating to be an aggressive animal with only four spindly legs and a small head stuck on the end of a pseudopod.

  7. The Monster's Lawyer says:

My money was on the short one. He had a good one-one combo but not a good fade shot. The tall one got a couple of good upper-cuts but that’s all he could bring.
    By the way. Who won?

  8. #7 – The Monster’s Lawyer,

Looked like the close one. The other seemed to go off to the right after the fight, leaving the closer one in control. Anyone else have a different take?

  9. joshua says:

They have very effective hooves…..wonder why they didn’t use those. I have seen a female kill a full grown lion with her front legs, made that Lion look like he was hamburger.

  10. Dan says:

#2 – you made me laugh and spit water on my keyboard. :-))))

  11. ECA says:

    OK,
want to see something REALLY interesting…
FIND a video of Humming bird fighting…
They Joust with their beaks..Sword fighting in mid aid.

  12. BertDawg says:

A couple years ago, I went on the veldt tour at Busch Gardens in Tampa. At one point, one of those critters had its head right in the vehicle with us when the driver unexpectedly started rolling again. I can tell you from painful experience, a giraffe’s skull is almost like a block of cast iron.

  13. Mr. Fusion says:

#10, Then drink coffee. It’s easier to see the mess to clean.
