Not necessarily the same car

LONDON – A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of having posted a video of himself on YouTube driving at speeds of more than 140 mph, police said Thursday.

The car, a Ford Escort, was filmed on the A76 single-carriageway road in southwest Scotland.

Sergeant Scott McLachlan, from the Roads Policing Unit at Dumfries and Galloway police, described it as “completely foolish behavior.”

“Not only did he endanger his own life, but that of other road-users. It is unacceptable, and to post a recording of such driving on the Internet is entirely stupid.”

Isn’t that the essential purpose of YouTube?

    That is one fast escort!

  2. hhopper says:

I just looked on YouTube and there are 10 pages of videos of cars going 140 mph!

There was another arrest made from a great internet video – see this article:

    What a moran!

(Scripts must be enabled to watch the video — no worries, I won’t be awarding the BubbaRayDipDork award to myself 😆 )

Obviously not the same car – it has a Spanish registration.

  5. undissembled says:

140 mph Focus? Anyone else see something wrong here?

  6. moss says:

#6 – Aside from the fact that the photo is an Escort, not a Focus – and no doubt a Cosworth tune – there are beaucoup Focuses just as quick, dude. Just not offered on showroom floors in the US.

#5 – you never saw a Spanish registration whizzing down the road in the UK?

    No.

  8. morram says:

    140?
Heck I do that or better a few times a week on my CBR coming to work

  9. bobbo says:

I hope they arrest that guy that derailed a train making it do a vertical 360 loop. That kind of thing is just unsafe!

  10. Lemming says:

Its a proud day to be scottish the guy that made his ford escort go 140mph is quite obviously a genious

On the front of the whole “Cosworth tune” i’m some what sceptical i live in the region and can safly say that it tends to be neds that do such stupid things as posting themselves doing something illeagal on youtube without thinking that they maybe arrested. My moneys on thats where his jobseekers for the last few months went. Wonder if i was worth it.

You should post all of them here 🙂

Hah, check out this guy in Serbia being towed by a sportbike while on his rollerblades at 140 MPH. He even does it in jeans with no helmet. What a loon. He wheels on his rollerblades are shredded at the end.

A Focus wouldn’t do a 140mph if you dropped it out of an airplane.

Izzatso? Take a gander here. Street-legal, and four years ago it did 0-100 in 9.8s and a top speed of 177. No airplane required. 😉

#14: Obviously you are not familiar with the Focus ST wit 150mph top speed.
