I love the guy’s comment, “Your s’posed to bleed a little bit on the slippery slide!”
Give me a break.

  1. That was kinda horrible. *L* Quasi-child abuse, although I guess not something anyone’s going to be showing to a therapist in 15 years time. Still, I was kinda hoping he’d leave the kids alone about 30 seconds in. 🙁

The dog was the best thing in the video. He was crackin’ me up. 😛

  2. GigG says:

#1 You are so right. How dare a parent, especially a father, play with his children. And to do so to the point where they enjoy themselves is beyond all moral boundries.

Sure, the older kid got hurt. I don’t remember one session on the Slip and Slide as a kid that someone didn’t get hurt. I’m really surprised that those of your ilk haven’t outlawed the things.

  3. # 2 Yikes… relax. I’m not saying it *was* child abuse, and I said it’s not as though they *would* need therapy in the future. I’m just of the opinion that the kids would’ve probably preferred to be left alone. A couple of times was fine, but give it a rest already. Let ’em play. So annoying sometimes when adults manhandle children.

And my “ilk” wouldn’t outlaw parents playing with their kids. Don’t be an ass.

p.s. I chose “manhandle” just for you. 😉

  4. JR says:

    And a Southern accent – hmmmm…

There’s so many ways I could go with this one!!

    .

  5. Misanthropic Scott says:

Gee, from the heading, I was expecting to see natural selection taking place at the wrong generation. This was more like baby shuffleboard.

  6. Nicky says:

Nothing wrong with the video. Just a father who loves his kids and likes spending quality time with ’em.

  7. Jamie says:

I could see kids getting hurt a lot worse in a swing mishap than possible with a slip n’ slide…never heard people (yet) trying to outlaw those. I do, however, think the toddler being pushed down is a bit too young for that sort of thing, but that’s just my opinion, and only applies to my kids.

Some people might already be trying to report that guy for child abuse by now. Yikes.

  8. Moyo says:

Anyone that finds a problem with this video, should go jump of a cliff.
Because you had a bad childhood, dosent mean you should impose it on others.

comments from people like him, and him, should go die.

  9. Jamie says:

“comments from people like him, and him, should go die.”

Save your rage for the guy on YouTube that commented that they’re going to report the maker of the video as soon as possible. That’s just sad. Overly-reactionary people like that help contribute to the whole nanny-state thing, and would probably be happier if everyone lived in indestructible pods so they’d never get hurt. While the image of everyone running around in giant hamster balls amuses the hell out of me, I don’t think it’d be very practical.

Yes. Yes, I should die for voicing my opinion. Sheesh! I’m a fan of Dvorak, and of this blog… this idea that I would find anything inherently *wrong*with this video is insane. I’m not campaigning to get this guy’s kids taken away. Anyone who can’t understand *that* should go and die.

  11. jlm says:

anyone who thinks this is abuse had a sad childhood, I’m sorry you missed out on it.

  12. Jamie says:

#10 – Not sure if you were including me, but that was why I specifically referred to a commenter on YouTube, not your earlier post – to exclude you. I figured yours was more or less tongue-in-cheek, while the YouTuber was Spanish Inquisition Serious.

Don’t think anyone should die, and don’t think that video is worth anyone getting irate over, on either side of the discussion.

  13. ECA says:

    and the DOG??
    is thinking….
    HOw do I fetch that??

  14. Rance Mohanitz says:

Everyone should go and die. Eventually you all will. Seriously, though, anyone who thinks that this is out of bounds on the part of the father must never have known anyone who is an abuser. If this guy is forcing these kids to do anything on this video, it’s no worse and probably better than my parents forcing me to eat my vegetables when I was a kid.

  15. Jamie says:

I’m just starting to think there’s a number of people here that need…BADLY…to take some time off and go play on a slip n’ slide. 🙂

“I’m just of the opinion that the kids would’ve probably preferred to be left alone. ”

Do you have kids? My kids would be yelling “again, again” as I collapse with a heart attack throwing my kids down the slip and slide. cripes…

  17. Mister Mustard says:

Gee, the big kid is kind of a pussy. The babies seem to be having a great time on the slippery slide.

  18. GigG says:

#15 NOOOOOOOOO!!!! If you have not tried to use a slip and slide as an adult I strongly suggest that you don’t. If you have you already know that you shouldn’t.

  19. Jamie says:

Heh. Actually I wouldn’t personally. But a good friction burn mixed with a soaking and a couple bumps n’ bruises might mellow some of these people off. Okay…maybe not, but it made for a damned amusing visual image. Then again, I’m sometimes not entirely sure if a number of commenters ARE adults, go fig.

I’d much prefer going to a water park, or making a considerably scaled-up version of a slip n’ slide. Not “Dangerously-Stupid” enough for me.

  20. Moyo says:

Ok may be i got to pissed. But people these days, Bitch about stupid stuff, and its gotten out of hand.

As for you DevotedSatellite333, im sorry, But as for those that seriously think that this father should be punished or his kids should be taken away. I hope that they get the same thing done to them in any form. be it life be it house, whatever.

  21. Sir Doucheington says:

WONT SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

Perhaps this isn’t the smartest thing to do, but the kids seems to be having fun.

If you think this is abuse, you don’t know what child abuse is.
