Homeland Security Enlists Clergy to Quell Public Unrest if Martial Law Ever Declared — Here’s an interesting story nobody is covering, yet! So what are these jokers expecting anyway.
Gun confiscation is exactly what happened during the state of emergency following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, along with forced relocation. U.S. Troops also arrived, something far easier to do now, thanks to last years elimination of the 1878 Posse Comitatus act, which had forbid regular U.S. Army troops from policing on American soil.
If martial law were enacted here at home, like depicted in the movie “The Siege”, easing public fears and quelling dissent would be critical. And thats exactly what the Clergy Response Team helped accomplish in the wake of Katrina.
Dr. Durell Tuberville serves as chaplain for the Shreveport Fire Department and the Caddo Sheriffs Office. Tuberville said of the clergy teams mission, “the primary thing that we say to anybody is, lets cooperate and get this thing over with and then well settle the differences once the crisis is over.”
Such clergy response teams would walk a tight-rope during martial law between the demands of the government on the one side, versus the wishes of the public on the other.

What do you mean IF. Bush is planning on declaring martial law and he is getting legislation in place that will make him the single absolute and undisputed authority in the US.
I’m not sure #4 is right about the nuke thing but I do think the script has been written and all the players have learned their lines. Now it only remains to play out the incident that convinces the public martial law is the only answer and it is a done deal.

I’m a cop with a suburban agency. My town has 50,000 residents, 80 officers, and four chaplains. We disbanded our town’s SWAT team to join a multi-jurisdictional one. (We went from 15 SWAT trained officers to 6). Somehow, I think we are greatly outnumbered.
That article was filled with quite a bit of speculation and no reliable sourcing for where they “learned” this information. IOW, it’s a bunch of bunk.

#19 makes a good point. In our entire county there are only 25 cops. Every one of them live in and are part of the community. If there is Martial Law declared, I don’t think too many of them would be out there rounding up the citizen’s guns or protecting the courthouse.
Most of the National Guard men that have returned from Iraq have a lot of distaste for Bush. Contrary to what mxpwr03, James Hill, Frank IBC, and a few other delusional idiots have commented, there isn’t a whole lot of people going to support Bush if he tries something.
I see crap like this being more of a Republican Party contingency plan.
Fools. We’ve directed Bush to set up the framework of the Patriot Act to protect the visible government from the inevitible revolution that will occur when the dollar collapses. He is also trying to get the number of illegals up to 100 million to maintain the workforce during the societal collapse that will occur when the first entitlement payments roll out to the baby boomers around 2009, which unfortunately will coincide with rapid oceanic rise that will wipe out the major port cities in a matter of days.. Hillary has been chosen as the successor and Bush is currently building the framework that will be necessary to protect her.
