Manhattan accountant Frank Van Buren found himself flooded with plastic in recent weeks, as the ExxonMobil cards kept on coming. Van Buren, who said he has had an ExxonMobil account for his business for 17 years, had ordered two copies of his card because it was expiring.
He got the cards he requested – and then got two boxes with 1,000 cards each. Van Buren said it took hours to shred the cards, which all had his name and account number.
ExxonMobil is looking into the mix-up.
Hey, at least they sent them to the right address.
That doesn’t sound like fun…
Why not just burn/melt them? Far easier than shredding.
At least they all had the same account #. What if they’d generated 2000 accounts? I think that would have a slight negative impact on your credit score.
A box full of the same credit card? Sounds like someone trying to get their kicks to me.
Next month… 2000 separate billing statements…
Following month… 2000 ‘cash advance’ checks…
and so on… and so on…
I don’t see how getting 2000 of the same, identical credit card could be a mistake. Sounds like a disgruntled employee trying to stir up trouble.
I dumped my Mobil card. They give no cash back, discount, or bonuses so what’s the point of using it? I think they currently have a promotion that gives you 1% back but you have to spend 10 dollars and it’s only for the first 3 months. Why wouldn’t I just use my credit card and get points for a store or airline miles?
I think Exxon/Mobil just had some extra petroleum byproducts to get rid of. Now, this guy has to dispose of them instead of Exxon. Hey wait a minute! Maybe credit cards are toxic waste …
…I would like to buy a “Ferrari”(In that fast and the furious:” More than you can afford pal!” tone…How I would like to pay for it? Well, *thump*, will these do? on another note: Customized graphics each note saying 1..2..3..4..2000 would be nice…
