FutureSex after Cheney & Bush

Undercover investigators, working for a fake firm, obtained a license to buy enough radioactive material to build a “dirty bomb,” amid little scrutiny from federal regulators, according to a government report obtained on Wednesday.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the license to the dummy company in just 28 days with only a cursory review, the Government Accountability Office said.

The GAO, which set up the sting, said the NRC approved the license after a couple of faxes and phones calls and then mailed it to the phony company’s headquarters — a drop box at a United Parcel Service location.

With a government based wholly on secrets and lies, cronies and crooks with no Congressional or public scrutiny – is there any reason for surprise?

    Not surprinsing.

I believe most “security measures” implemented in the name of “homeland security” are not much more than a PR campaign smokescreen.

It’s about keeping people afraid so the administration can get away with doing whatever they want to do much MORE than actually giving thought to processes that will efficiently prevent terrorrist attacks.

  2. Sea Lawyer says:

    So what’s the problem here?

  3. ECA says:

    Lets see…
Strip All the Checks and balances in Gov.
    Strip all agencies of money.
close all excess offices, including those Like the FDA at the port of LA(?)..
Fire any competent workers, and hire your OWN..FEMA
Pay excess money to services that could be done by the military…Like truck repair.
Strip out most of the National guard, including the Coast guard..

    Hmm, RIPE for the picking.

#2 – Right… I mean its good to know that if I need some nuclear material for whatever legitimate private home use I may have, there is a way to get it…

#1 – I believe most “security measures” implemented in the name of “homeland security” are not much more than a PR campaign smokescreen.

You believe? Dude, you KNOW its all a smokescreen…

  5. Gig says:

If you think the top level people (the political appointees) have anything to do with the day-to-day grunt operations of any federal department you are sadly mistaken.

This was done by government drones who are the same government drones that were there during the Clinton administration and will be there during the next administration not matter if Dems or Rep have the White House.

  6. Li says:

Secrecy is a terrible and unnecessary crutch when one is fighting a de-centralized enemy; if the enemy can move faster than the information in your power structure, you lose. It is as true today as it was back in the Revolutionary War, when poor leadership supported by poor intel and poor information flow conspired to humble the worlds greatest military power before a (by comparison) childlike adversary. Throw in cronyism and inflexibility, and our modern King George has come to have more than a passing similarity to the old one. At least the old George had the dementia of syphilis to blame for his madness, the only excuse this one has is the pox on this nation that is Cheney et.al.

The degree to which the obvious lessons of history are completely ignored by this administration bodes poorly for our prospects over the next few years.

#7 – Secrecy is a terrible and unnecessary crutch

You pretty much said everything that needed to be said right there… 🙂

#6 – If you think the top level people (the political appointees) have anything to do with the day-to-day grunt operations of any federal department you are sadly mistaken.

Well, I think that’s pretty much all of our understandings… But it is the top level yoyos who do all the important fear-mongering.

  8. Mojo Yugen says:

Don’t we have illegal wire taps to catch this sort of thing? Gheesh!

  9. ECA says:

    5,
    I remember that..
NOW, where did I put that package…

  10. Mister Mustard says:

After being exposed to the kind of “sex” that the right-wing neocon pervs have on a regular basis, I expect even Tyvek suits aren’t going to be enough to protect people from infestation or infection post-Cheney/Bush. Time to invest in the porn industry and those jerk-off tubes they sell in dirty book stores. Who knows if the woman you’re chatting up has been with a neocon pedophile/ page-fucker/ gay prostitute client/ hooker connoisseur? Yuck! At least the right wing will be getting closer to its goal: No sex for regular people!

  11. Li says:

I don’t know how relevant the Clue character’s post was, but it sure was funny!

  12. ECA says:

    12,
    Agreed…
I cant figure out WHO he didnt hit with it… besides Neo classic Orthodox christens and Jews.

  13. tikiloungelizard says:

but…..privatization of government would never hurt us, would it, ‘cuz corporations have our best interests in mind, right? hello? (*crickets*)
