Joss Wheedon, the creator of Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer has placed an auction on Ebay to buy a dinner with him, all in the name of charity.
MY DINNER WITH JOSS: Bid to win a place at quasi-celebrity Joss Whedon’s private dinner! This Comic-Con weekend, Joss will take five winning bidders to a swank San Diego restaurant for drinks and dinner in a private room. Three hours of intimate conversation, hilarious anecdotes and dark, awkwardly personal secrets. (Not to mention a little swag.) It’s a fan experience like no other, to benefit Equality Now. Any subject you like is on the menu (not the actual menu; that’ll probably just have food). For three hours, Joss gets to be your biggest fan.
Equality Now fights gender-based injustice and atrocities worldwide. The work they do is crucial and they therefore rock the hardest.
I hope this isn’t a scam.
Well if its actually Joss doing the auction then its most likely not a scam, but these days unscrupulous gits will say anything to part you from your money, even that they’re someone else.
If true, its an untapped goldmine of money-for-charity that could raise millions for worthwhile causes.
Two questions….
Who?
&
Will he put out?
I’ll bid…I’ve never seen anything of his but Firefly and Serenity, but thats enough for me.
Wonder what it costs?
I will channel Dvorak here….
errrr…. ahhhhh….
Eh who really cares? The guy put out a couple of shows that Rod Serling would never have soiled his hands with in a a two decade period where there wasn’t anything worth watching in the first place and people just fawn all over this guy like he is a modern Ray Bradbury!
He is no better than Hubbard when it comes to fantasy.
Cursor_
Uhm okay cursor. Comparing Joss Whedon to Hubbard is retarded. You know nothing.
Joss Whedon wrote:
Toy Story
Titan AE
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie + tv)
Angel
Firefly
Serenity
As well as directed and produced. I’m willing to bet there are millions of fans (myself included) who would disagree with you.
Oh by the way the Twilight Zone and Rod Sterling are classics, but far from any kind of high cinema. They’re all fantasy and science fiction and all cool in there own way.
Sounds like this guy is the king of B-Rate drama/comedy judging from Matt’s listing.
Isn’t all sci-fi really just b-rated?
