A heavy metal fan has been awarded sickness handouts after doctors said his addiction to music was a disability.
The ruling means Roger Tullgren, 42, will pocket thousands of pounds in state benefits to help finance his 36-year obsession.
Roger will get a £65 a week top up to the money he earns as a part-time restaurant dishwasher so he can buy concert tickets and CDs.
But another Swedish occupational therapist said: “I think it’s extremely strange. If someone has has a gambling addiction you don’t send them down the racetrack. We try to cure the addiction, not encourage it.”

…well, actually, this being a globalised world with interdependent economies and all that….
The fact is that your tax dollars fund your defense spendings. As it happens, a surprisingly large part of those spendings goes into buying Swedish weapon systems (surprisingly large, at least, considering the size of Sweden, and considering our supposedly neutral/alliance free foreign policy stance). Those weapon systems, in turn, create revenue for the Swedish defence industry, which is then taxed and turned into government funds and those funds are then spent on (among other things) Swedish wellfare.
Don’t worry, though. Just like you keep buying our crap, we keep buying yours, so my tax Kronor pays for your government’s exesses as well 😉

You are correct, defense spending is a big part of our Taxes. If we could pay less for Swedish weapon systems (GM Saab-Hummer and like), I know BUSH will reduce our taxes and pass the saving on to US.

I am an American working here in Sweden for an American company and it sickens me that I work my ass off and then pay 34% taxes in addition to 25% retail taxes in order to support a bunch of lazy Swedes and middle east immigrants who only are here to take advantage of this liberal system!
All the while listening to the Swedish media bash the USA like were a bunch of terrorists while they silently support the real terrorists thru buying pizzas and drinks from their pubs and restaurants who are owned by immigrants and their employees are working under the table and here illegally!! The “black” money is then shipped “back home”. But the Swedes just turn their head blindly as they are famous for doing!
