A Maltese police sergeant has been caught on camera violently kicking an elderly French lady in the upper torso and neck, knocking her senseless for more than three minutes.

  1. j says:

This is sick. Fire that idiot cop and throw him in jail, and I hope that elderly lady sues him and gets all of his salary and more!

  2. Homer says:

I’m not sure what restrictions the police have on general conduct, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t allowed. Hey, cops will put a thrashing on anyone if they think they can get away with it. I hope that this Maltese douchebag “officer” gets his commission removed. At least he can still beat up elderly folks, just not with the help of the state.

  3. Miguel says:

    A few considerations:

1 – kicking a lady of that age will almost certainly break a few bones! And those will take some time to heal – it’s not like us youngsters

2 – The police officer *MUST* be immediately dismissed, and sued for compensation – whatever the old lady did (which we don’t know).

3 – The fact isn’t lost on me that a surveillance camera – which can be used as a sort of Big Brother to control citizens – also has potential to SAVE citizens, or at least to demonstrate their entitlement to compensation after the deed was done.

    Great job!

  4. MacBandit says:

I know it’s an old lady but…. What if we were to imagine that person in the car was a teenage kid grabbing poking at the cop what would you expect from the cop then?

  5. undissembled says:

I don’t know. She looked pretty feisty.

  6. GeekPirateRoberts says:

While the officer obviously over-reacted with his kick, why does nobody call out the old lady for hitting and trying to obstruct the officer in his duties. If he had not kicked her (and even with the kick, she still did the offense), would she not have been guilty of strking an officer? You may say “but she’s old, how much harm could she do”? Well, I’m sure the law does not care. Again, she didn’t deserve a kick, and the officer could have handled the situation in many better ways, but her actions certainly were the catalyst for the attack.

  7. rasco says:

Anyone who thinks this is excusable for any reason is fucking mad. I don’t care what she did; no old person ever deserves this type of treatment. It’s the same hitting a defenseless infant. Send this bastard to jail. This is wrong.

  8. jbellies says:

Maybe he said “caution” and she said “cauchon”.

  9. And, of course, this is what many police do best — traffic stop. These are glorified meter maids they are not protecting anyone from crime. They are collecting fees.

  10. Rob says:

Hmmm, I know Los Angeles is really big and has a lot of suburbs, but I’ve never heard of an L.A. suburb called “Maltese”.

  11. hmmm says:

I’m surprised people have such different opinions about the law applying to young and old people… If a young person was grabbing the officers arm, trying to (what looked like) reach in his pocket, etc… and he used force to stop them and push them away, i doubt people would say anything…

  12. Rich says:

Where is Goosio when you need him?

  13. JimR says:

The lady was trying to pull the cop away from the door by tugging (with almost no strength) because she wanted to get out. If a teen tried to do that he shouldn’t kick them either. A warning would have sufficed in this case. And YES, there is a difference between a husky teenage boy, a skinny female or slightly built male, an old lady, a child, and a baby. Their respective threats should be assessed accordingly.

This cop should be jailed without parole for , and lose his job.

  14. Imran says:

why does nobody call out the old lady for hitting and trying to obstruct the officer in his duties.

There were two kicks. I think you missed the very first one. After that she struggled more and got second kick.

  15. Ballenger says:

Post 7, I agree completely. I was saddened that the video ended before a group of elderly townspeople surrounded the cop and did the AARP tire tool tango on his ass.

  16. noname says:

we dont know the entire story here… it looked like the old lady was flickin off the police officer AND assulting him… she thought she could get away with it… think again.

  17. bobbo says:

#10—If this was LA–the cop would have emptied his gun into her because “he feared for his life.” Cops are given WAY to much authority to use violent force in this country when less leathal means are available.

How many knife holding mental cases have been shot in the chest from 30 feet away “for the safety of the officer?” I know getting shot in the leg would slow me down quite a bit.

Anyhoo, old lady/young man are equal in the eyes of the law, doesn’t mean they are “the same.” Old lady was wrong, cop was wrong. Old lady should learn her lesson, cop should get a black mark and attend reeducation class.

  18. Awake says:

    6 – GreekPirateRoberts –
    You are an asshole.
The next time you are driving down the road with your mom or grandmother, I hope that the police pull you over in mistake, demand that you get out of the car at gunpoint, and when you try to help your mother out of the car because she is frail and elderly they then just beat the shit out of you for not following orders. To your mom I wish no harm. Asshole!

  19. Justsaying says:

As much as I hate cops I have to agree with #16. Unless I know why she was doing that and it was for a good reason I say she shouldn’t had touched him. I expect my parents to be treated the same if they do the same thing, same for me if I get old.
If that makes me an asshole not to compare elderly people to infants so be it.

I have a big problem with the non assistance after she was knocked out though.

  20. joshua says:

The old lady was bitchin up a storm, and being French, she probably was calling him a few choice names. So the 250 pound pig of a cop had no choice but to knock her senseless. In Malta, he’ll probably get a medal.

Love to have follow up on this story. Knowing the history between Malta and France, I’m surprised he didn’t shoot her.

#19…justsaying…..Your a real piece of work. I’m glad to see you value your parents. Believe me, I ‘m betting you were an asshole BEFORE you commented here.

  21. Brian says:

    16-

Good god, you’re *defending* this guy? She was irritated obviously, and she posed NO THREAT whatsoever, and surely none which would merit that type of physical violence. If he wanted to subdue her, then he should have handcuffed her, not kneed her and knocked her unconscious.

    6-

You’re out of your mind. Seriously, seek therapy immediately.

  22. Justsaying says:

    #20, thanks 🙂

  23. Drew Veeneman says:

This guy would make a good cop in Chicago.
