#31, BUT, I want them to watch…Learn, and KNOW that it takes alittle time.
Then teach them HOW, to make Sure this dont happen. [Sic]
ECA, that’s how you save yourself a whole lot of time and trouble, and has always been my philosophy even though it may cut down on some revenue. Makes for happy customers.
#26 – Short Doctor Syndrome
I’ll have to remember that one. He sure fits your description.

Get off your high horse. Never forget that people do NOT have to go to you for repairs, and that there is ALWAYS someone else “out there” who knows more than you do and/or charges less and/or won’t screw over the customer.

Techies are such dicks because they set themselves up as Masters of Their Domains… in this case, PC repair. They think that just because they charge a lot of money for their “services”, that automatically makes them professionals. The only people getting “serviced” are their customers.
So I use TeamViewer for any kind of software problems. This is a thin tool for remote controlling other pcs and it works flawlessly on windows machines. It is free for private use and includes features like file transfers, chat, presentation mode, host mode aso. The download page is http://www.teamviewer.com/download/index.aspx
Unfortunately you sometimes have to rely on such crooked offers for hardware problems.
It’s disgusting how many crooks there are out there. I work in the industry and can’t tell you how many times I’ve met the proverbial “little old lady” who has been taken to the cleaners.
I realize it’s a dog eat dog world but sometime it’s just to much.
That is so lame, there is so many bad tech guys out there that give the good tech guys a bad name, nearly all the people i go to see to fix the computers have had a bad experience with someone.

“Learn it yourself” quote, is great advice! That’s how I’ve dealt with this new technology, and never regretted it or, had to take my PC to someone else to repair it subsequently. They are not THAT fifficult to learn about. I’ve since built many since picking up these skills.
You don’t learn a damn thing giving your PC to a GEEK SQUAD IDIOT.
(well..you’ll learn NOT to take it there again I guess)(that’s also education)
“Learn it yourself OR, be at someone elses mercy”; would be the completed addage I believe!
i.e. learn it or, pay the price for not!
That was a great post. I will have to bookmark this site so I can read more later.
I’m not sure how active I’ll be in your page, but one thing i sure, I’ll be back to read again some of your post coz it’s really worth to read it.
