RICHMOND, Va. — Hundreds of items related to the Rev. Jerry Falwell have been put up for sale on eBay since the televangelist’s death two weeks ago, including an autographed bobblehead doll that went for $145.
An autographed 1978 Bible that the seller said was given to contributors to Falwell’s Liberty University early in its construction sold for about $90.
The online auctions, which include other signed items including books and photos, follow the trend of selling memorabilia of people and events in the worldwide spotlight.
“We’ve witnessed this more with pop culture celebrities — movie stars, musicians, that sort of thing — but one can make the case that he was a pop culture celebrity, too,” said Steve Jones, a professor of communications at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Falwell, who used the power of television to develop the Moral Majority and turn the Christian right into a mighty force in American politics, died May 15 at age 73 at the Lynchburg school he founded in 1971.
The shirt pictured above starts at $120!! Do people think these are collector items? |
Somehow we missed the bible being sold on eBay signed (in ballpoint) by Jesus H. Christ.
I should start selling shirts that look like this..

#4, That would be almost the complete set I understand. I understand that a few of the early ones were destroyed because of the stains.

Hustler, blessed with Falwell’s Holy Water™.
#2, What a great photo. I’m getting out my “iron-on” paper and inserting it into my super Cannon right now!
Whoever purchases that shirt is likely to be one of the suckers who handed him cash for nothing when he was alive.
At least this time they’ll end up with a shirt. It’s not Heaven but at least it’s something.
#5 – Hilarious video. What a production!
#5, Jägermeister, stop that!! You made me snort coffee all over the keyboard!!
People who follow Falwell, by definition, don’t think. They just let him stuff their heads with whatever nonsense he felt like at the moment. So, is it any surprise that there’s a booming market on his “memorabilia” real or fake? Same sorta suckers and maybe the same exact suckers too.

Hehe… I knew someone would get a laugh. 🙂

There’s one word that describe those people: Gullible
I’ll give you $6.66 for the lot of the jerk’s junk. . .
#8 .. Thanks.. I made that as soon as I heard the news..
What I wanna know if Falwell’s estate can be audited so we can find out how much he had right when he died… tv evangelism is *big* money … then find out how much his estate has now and see if he COULD take money to heaven (or hell) – thus answering one of life’s many questions once and for all.
