GALVESTON — A woman blames the devil and not her husband for severely burning their infant daughter after the 2-month-old was put in a microwave, a Houston television station reported.
Eva Marie Mauldin said Satan compelled her 19-year-old husband, Joshua Royce Mauldin, to microwave their daughter May 10 because the devil disapproved of Joshua’s efforts to become a preacher.
“Satan saw my husband as a threat. Satan attacked him because he saw (Joshua) as a threat,” Eva Mauldin told Houston television station KHOU-TV.
A Galveston County grand jury indicted Joshua Mauldin last week on child injury charges after hearing evidence that he placed his daughter in a motel microwave for 10 to 20 seconds.
The infant, Ana Marie, remains hospitalized. She suffered burns on the left side of her face and to her left hand, police said.
Eva Marie Mauldin, the girl’s 20-year-old mother, told the television station that her husband is “not the monster people are making him out to be.”
“That was not my husband; my husband is a wonderful father,” she said. “Satan was working through his weaknesses.”
That damn Satan… you just can’t trust him.

As for blaming Satan — I don’t expect you “radical secularists” to understand this, but Satan is one way to understand the fact of evil in the world, one of the most vexing issues in the history of humanity.
However, “the devil made me do it” is usually just a lazy excuse.
While it’s very sad for the child to have suffered these wounds, at least maybe child protection services can place that child in a family that won’t raise her to become a religious fanatic who blames Satan for every single mistake she does.
Mom is a De and dad is a De and the baby is going to be a De De De. What a waste of protoplasm.

#7, I’m with you there. And it doesn’t have to be religious faith, either. It seems like people who are way too set in their beliefs (not to be confused with people who just have strong convictions) do the most f-ed up things.
Poor kid. I hope the state keeps her away from those jackasses and puts her in a good home. Hell, maybe being put in a microwave by her whack-job father will turn out the be the best thing that ever happened to her – getting her out of that messed up home.

The people here in Texas are outraged at what happened to that precious baby….but I sure do wish some of the fools that comment would get their stories straight…..the baby is two MONTHS old, not 2 yrs old, which makes it all the worse…unable to tell anyone anything…helpless, relying on her parents to feed and love her. If you think southerners are f’d, think again….before its done he will get his due, and after that, he will get his “special treatment” from the inmates that don’t really approve of men that harm little babies.

Hi this is Satan, even I don’t approve of babies in Microwaves…that’s just plain wrong….I stick to wars – much bigger scale….these two can’t blame me for this…I had no part in it.
