That’s Bubba on the right
“Bubba” Ludwig can’t walk, talk or open the refrigerator door — but he does have his very own Illinois gun permit.
The 10-month-old, whose given name is Howard David Ludwig, was issued a firearm owner’s identification card after his father, Howard Ludwig, paid the $5 fee and filled out the application, not expecting to actually get one.
The card lists the baby’s height (2 feet, 3 inches), weight (20 pounds) and has a scribble where the signature should be.
Illinois State Police oversee the application process. Their purpose, said Lt. Scott Compton, is to keep guns out of the hands of convicted felons, those under an order of protection and those convicted of domestic violence.
See, the coppers didn’t do anything wrong. Just stupid!
he’ll be robbing liquor stores in no time
Hey, all my cats are packing heat!
Remind me where the Right to Bear Arms is limited to adults.
cool.. I wonder what kind of gun he packs? I think anything more than a .22 or .25 would be a little difficult til his hands are a bit bigger.
Awesome. Totally awesome.
I hope the little tike is supervised …. we don’t want him going all Vice Presidential on the neighborhood.
That’ll teach the left to make their freedom-robbing bills more restrictive.
Now he can go to Walmart and ask where is your children’s gun section?
What’s stupid about what the cops did? This kid wasn’t on any of the banned lists.
Watch out!
This kid WILL be the first one on his block with a .357 Magnum.
#1 – No that sounds more like a serial killer name to me.
Ummm….#3…..remind me where your common sense has gone, if you’re serious.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Take the above sentence. Think about what the original intent at the time was – people needed to keep a weapon within easy access in their home in case they were called up against the enemy (at that time, perhaps the British?). They didn’t need to pack every minute of the day, nor did common sense dictate they should. Some people say the intent has changed over the years…but why? To protect yourself from all the other people who feel they should be carrying 24/7? Sort of an infinite loop of foolishness.
I have several guns at home. I use them for occasional hunting, pest shooting, and target. I have never needed to carry a gun with me outside of those things, or wanted to (well, ok, maybe once or twice I’ve wanted to). Now…if you say where you live you need to carry, then maybe you should be looking at the deeper problems of why that is.
Just like on the show “King of the Hill”, he can get his guns at Megalomart, in the kid’s gun section right next to the wine and beer rack.
Good lookin’ kid, he should be proud to bear the name “Bubba” — I didn’t get my first rifle until I was six. Gun permits? Hahahahaha.
“The 10-month-old, whose given name is Howard David Ludwig, ”
“Baby ‘Bubba’ gets a gun permit”
CNN can’t even be objective when it comes to a headline.
Just needs a water gun & some black electrical tape 😛
#13 – try to read above a 6th grade level. It’s clear enough in the article the family calls the kid “Bubba”. Go back to listening to Fox Snooze – and you won’t have to try so hard.
Wooooo. BFD.
This means he can OWN a gun. Now, whether a minor in Illinois can really OWN anything, I don’t know.

This has nothing to do with carrying a firearm. I think some of you are confusing this with a concealed weapon permit (CCW) which Illinois DOES NOT HAVE. This permit was for a shotgun. I didn’t bother to research it, but I doubt that minors are allowed to own handguns in Illinois. (They’re not here in Florida, which has very permissive gun laws.)
#11 who says this kid is carrying all the time, or that anyone else is?
Finally somebody is listening!
If you want children protected, give them the means to protect themselves!
It’s so no one will take his candy. He learned it on the Simpson’s.

Isn’t there an abortion clinic you should be bombing somewhere?
So it is legal to fill out a request in someone elses name without their concent or foreknowledge?
Also, this license doesnt get you a gun exactly. The requirements of actually attaining a gun from this point on would interest me more.
SN – Is this one of those tolerant, open-minded leftists that doesn’t denigrate his political opposition you were trying to tell me about?
Nothing like turning your opponent into a pro-life murderer in a completely unrelated discussion to “win” an argument. So much more civil than calling someone “stupid.”
And americans wonder why the rest of the world thinks they’re stupid imbeciles!
I just thought the story was funny as an “up your bureaucracy” sort of way. But something about it has really brought out the right-wing loons. I don’t see anything but good humor on the daddy’s face, in the pic. What in the world prompted all that venom and loon-squawking?
You see right-wingers being jerks, attacking others and acting like loons? In THIS thread?
Really?
Interesting. I guess it is true; people see what they want to see.

For starters, you’re one.
You had SIX YEARS OF NO HOLDS BARRED REPUBLICAN RULE, and so far I haven’t seen any improvement at all.
Angel, how does that apply to this conversation in any way? Can you even admit that the “lefties” in this thread were the vitriolic, hateful ones this time?
Apparently the kid’s grandfather wanted to give him a shotgun as an heirloom.
Illinois requires a Firearms ID Card to own a firearm.
This entails a background check similar to the “Brady Check” required in most areas to purchase a firearm.
Pretty much “man bites dog”….
The boy probably doesn’t need the FOID because he may not legally be able to own the gun. However he eventually may actually inherit the gun and may have problems doing so without the FOID. So it’s simply expedient to do it now. (The FOID can be revoked if the kid turns into a criminal. Somehow I doubt that will happen.)
This does not constitute any sort of “carry a weapon” permit. They don’t exist in Illinois anyway…. Serfs in Illinois may beg permission to own firearms for what amounts to sporting purposes. Their lives are worthless in terms of defending themselves….
Regards,
Stu.

Actually minors don’t need a FOID in Illinois because they are covered under their parent’s FOID. And as someone pointed out, this application is fraudulent, at least by the intent of the law if not the letter. If you stick a pen in the hand of someone in a coma and let him scribble on paper when he has a muscle spasm, is that a “signature”? What they did with this 10-month old kid wasn’t any different.
Hey look at the bright side, it may come in handy when his kindergarten teachers suprise him with a “terrorist” drill.
