Harrison, great post. Ever seen noctilucent clouds? Altitude, 50 miles (250,000 ft.) Astronomy sucks when it’s cloudy, but clouds like this are even better than the scope at times.

weird, standing waves are pretty well known for certain weather conditions like mountain waves (much higher than those here, though, they will usually only have clouds on the very tops, so called “altocumulus lenticularis”).
There’s also evience of waves behind large pockets of rising air, but this wave is moving against the movement of the clouds, if the reason was thermals, I would expect them to be either stationary or move with the wind. Does anyone have a good explanation for this or do we have to dismiss it as fake? (which I’m quite ready to do, because the fact that the wave forms such a long straight, even line seems odd to me).
