Villagers at a wedding in eastern India decided the groom had arrived too drunk to get married, and so the bride married the groom’s more sober brother instead, police said Monday.
“The groom was drunk and had reportedly misbehaved with guests when the bride’s family and local villagers chased him away,” Madho Singh, a senior police officer told Reuters after Sunday’s marriage in a village in Bihar state’s Arwal district.
The younger brother readily agreed to take the groom’s place beside the teenage bride at her family’s invitation, witnesses said.
Uh – OK.
Finally, something I wouldn’t mind outsourcing.
And they lived happily ever after.
The end
IIRC almost all marriages in India are arranged marriages; the notion of marrying “for love” is not widespread there. Often the bride and groom barely know each other before they get married.
I guess that’s one way for the nerd to get the girl!

No runaway bride/groom problems in India.
Three words: brother in law

well when ur goin for arranged marriage, the bride usually doesn’t know the groom till sex…lol. well i’m indian so i’m just sayin thats how it usually works. they have little dates after they’re engaged for marriage but they really know each other after sex…
i say good for him…his bro was a loser, let him have the fun..lol..what would probably happen now is that the guy who was supposed to get married would come and have a big fight…and usually these things end up in murder.
I read about this once in Penthouse Letters. 70’s chic.
