Wow is the only thing I can say.

This video presents a computer model indicating the mechanics behind the movement of the Theo Jansen‘s sculptures.

  1. BertDawg says:

    “Wow” says it perfectly.

  2. ECA says:

    This is interesting…
    Now,
couple this into a generator system, and have different sections WAVE, as the wind goes by…Would be beutiful and gen POWER.

  3. rantsh says:

I’ve got to 2 words for this: “FREAKING AMAZING”. I wish my children turn out to be geniuses like this man.

  4. Jägermeister says:

    Amazing.

  5. fritz says:

I think he sounds a lot like Christopher Walken

  6. Janky says:

I hope that thing has an off switch or it will march right into the water.

I wonder how he gets it to walk back into the wind?

  7. tallwookie says:

holy freaking crap that machine is sweet

  8. noname says:

DU’s renumerations bucket must be filling quickly for essentially posting a commercial?

  9. MarkT says:

Pretty amazing and beautifully done as well.

  10. Rob says:

#5, you’re right! I think that thing needs more cowbell.

    🙂

  11. d bennoch says:

    SHINY

  12. hhopper says:

There’s no doubt that great engineering = art.

  13. KVolk says:

So BMW is going to make a wind car? Awesome!

  14. tdkyo says:

Now that is what I call a blend of art, engineering, and patience.

  15. sonja says:

  16. emlak says:

thank you very good nice topic thanks 🙂

  17. Fik says:

Makes me want to build one of those

  18. OmarThe Alien says:

You could do it in CG, but I think it would be just as hard, and not a project that I’d care to tackle.

  19. joshua says:

Man….I wish he was my neighbor so I could play with his art….just fantastic. Who cares if it’s a damn commercial?

  20. ECA says:

    I have a question…
With All these smart creative people….
Why aint BMW, using there ideas??

  21. Anne says:

Think of how wonderfully the human body does these movements rather than watching a mechanical representation. Machines will never replace us – but, of course that wasn’t Theo’s point. Oh heck, just enjoy it. I sure did.
