300 – More homoerotic than an intrusion

Movie “300” an Insult to Iranians – FarsNews.com: Oh, brother.

Iranian Government Spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham described the Warner Brothers film ‘300’ an intrusion of the Iranian culture and fabrication of history, stressing that the movie is considered a hostile move against the Iranian nation.

“Cultural intrusion is among the tactics always used by foreigners. Such a fabrication of culture and insult to people is not acceptable by any nation or government and we consider this attitude as hostile,” Elham said while speaking to reporters during his weekly press briefing here in Tehran on Tuesday.

How interesting that nothing was said when the graphic novel came out. I guess WB should thank them for the free promotion.
Last year ‘V for Vendetta’ was released, with not even a peep from the British government, just a delay in the release because of the London bombings. The Government even allowed scenes to be filmed on the grounds of the Parliament.

    LOL

Your not? Well than I take back my gallantry then. lol

No. I knew that. I was watching t.v and talking to my wife at the same time I was typing those comments. You were maligned in error. I offer my sincere apology.

While I agree with your assessments of the films content……. I have to say I liked it but I have always been a sucker for the underdog story.

So, the Iranian Government is all pissy about how the Persians of 2,000-odd years ago are presented, and yet they have no trouble at all teaching their kids that America is “the Great Satan.”

2,000 year old pot, meet today’s kettle.

  4. MikeN says:

This is irony, as the Iranian regime denies its own Persian roots all the time so as to embrace Islam.

I have to chime in on this once more.

“Your point isn’t one. Would you have the story be SO utterly ignorant of history that they change Persians to white guys just to satisfy your white liberal guilt?”

Oh you mean like the fact that most of the Persians consisted of demon faced monkeys and troll like characters.

I gotta ask malren. Did you even see the fucking movie? My guess is no but that is typical for Republican hacks.

  6. meetsy says:

    J,
Persians ARE WHITE GUYS….they were the origin of the word CAUCASIAN. The word comes from the caucasus mountains…Mountainous region in the USSR between Black and Caspian Seas, an area that was once all Persia. For todays reference, Iran is also bordered by the Caspian Sea, AND most all Iranians consider themselves to be Persian.
The reason that they were called Caucasian, is that they were not Arabs….lighter skin color, yada yada. Hence, by the standards of that era, they were “white boys”.
If you ever go to Iran, you would see… a grand mix, but for the most part, skin tones ARE lighter than our own home-grown hispanic populations, and certainly a much different “look” than what you’d find in the sahara and sub-sahara area regions. In fact, the Romans considered them WHITE (or that’s how they wrote about them).
    Yeessh

If you look back at the posts you will see that I never spoke of the Persian skin color. You should probably direct your comments to malren. I simply rebutted malrens attack on Angel Wong and liberals. You will also find that my comment on Greek skin color is quite accurate.

You also should probably go see the movie before commenting on things. While you are correct that most “Persians” have a lighter skin tone they were not portrayed that way in the movie. Which is the strength behind Angel Wongs post.

  9. jujubee says:

Funny how the first two reps you see are black guys and no Persians. I was like, since when did Persians become black. But then I guess they had a vast empire and he sent other folks. Xeres was off the hook, with his make up, gold lame jock strap, and piercings. I’m sure Xeres is turning over in his grave. Everytime the Spartans marched and there was music in the background, I thought they were seriously gonna strip. Do not expect a history lesson. Expect graphics, flash, skin, and gore.

  10. JOsh says:

soooo…why cant ppl just relax. Stand back, forget polotics and gay stuff. Just apreeeeeecccccciate the good graphics and the fact that the acters went through the worst physical beating in there lives just to get the part. Alas, they had to learn all kinds of martial arts to play the scenes. O my gosh, the movie rocks, and o my gosh, screw Liberal cowards who know nothing else but to complain about anything that might touch a nerve or two.

Hmm.. kinda funny when the movie Borat come out… nothing said then? but NOW the movie 300 came out… NOW you say something?
    Wow. Waste of breath/typing.

  13. Well now. i see alot of very harsh things being thrown around and you are technically all right and all wrong. yes the persians were technically caucasian, they were also raised in a very warm and lightened environment allowing them to adapt to their environment. hence why they were portrayed in the movie as darker skinned. the spartans were darker in reality and did call them white but they were actually lighter than the persians because they are living in a climate that is much like albertas except for the extreme temperature differences. hence the lighter skinned actors. and if you can remember in your history classes, the persian empire consisted of many different nationalities, which is no surprise to me that the messenger and some of the warriors or slaves in the persian army were of all different colours. the persians claimed the middle east and parts of northern africa near egypt and along the eastern shoreline down to madagascar. look it up and tell me that im right. and if im wrong please correct me. personally i thought the movie was good because it was based of fact of an epic battle for one of the greatest war driven empires of all time. the spartans had the best training tactics in which they created their soldiers. if the armies of today were taught like this then we would have german tyranny among us because they took over greece and would be able to acguire the use of greek soldiers. we wouldnt be in the position we are now arguing about a movie. look up on your history and get back to me

  14. I am sarry for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
