This is supposedly an airport infrared video camera capture. It’s just bad and tasteless to watch. I think it is a fake. And I question the humor.

Hey. you’re right John. The blog HAS sunk to a new low! …:-)

But seriously, the video does look staged but I can see it possibly being genuine. After all, I guess that the “gas” would be at body temperature, and being an infra red camera it could be captured but I sure wouldn’t wait to have to share an elevator with him!!!

If I didn’t know better I’d say he’d just eaten some of my “5 Alarm Chili” !!

It’s a fake, and a stupid thing to post either way. Why did you post it? Are ya st00pid?

Do everybody a favor and just delete it…

  3. Jon Biddell says:

On second thought, you can’t see his left hand, and on closer examination it *does* look like the gas may be issuing fromsome sort of container….

    Tasteless but funny…

terrible MINDS has far to little time to expolit….WHAT COULD BE DONE.

  5. ECA says:

And that random number verify only keep shte WASTED and Drunks from posting…..

  6. Corey says:

Warmer objects in this video appear lighter. Except the “gas” is pure black. It should be at or near body temperature. this is obviously fake.

  7. Lian says:

tasteless? come now… you KNOW it’s funny.

  8. Scott Gant says:

Yes, you’re right John. This blog, Dvorak.org, has sunk to new lows by posting this video.

That IS what you meant, right?

  9. Anonymous Coward says:

    They should have lit it.

  10. Emeryjay says:

Yes, John, it is a new low. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am greatly offended — so offended I emailed it to at least six of my friends. Anybodu got a match?

  11. Charbax says:

THis is awesome! Wow! If this were on Discovery Channel I would watch it!

  12. Is it not amazing the uses the high tech can be applied towards ?
Imagine the scientist types gathered around a conference table in the early 60s at a funded joint military / academic sponsored meeting discussing the ethics, morality and appled technology in the upcoming “brave new world ” of their creation.
    New world order indeed.

The first recorded fart humor is fifth century BC but I suspect it goes back to caveperson days.

The above article even has a fart reference from Homer! (not the Simpson’s guy, the Greek).

  14. RTaylor says:

I don’t think it’s a new low. It may mean you should stay away from the site after that third cocktail.

  15. Billabong says:

Fart jokes are funny and visual fart jokes are very rare.

  16. Dallas says:

Actually there is a product that addresses this very serious situation.

The “ANTI-FLATULENCE UNDERWEAR” was invented in 2001 and you can buy it here: http://www.americaninventorspot.com/underwear

It is the 4th one down after the GPS enabled underwear,

  17. kballweg says:

I’m not sure why all the whinging about fart jokes. That’s the “Lost” smoke monster. Now we know how it got to the island.

  18. Booger, dick AND fart jokes are considered the lowest by professional comics. That said Billabong makes a good point “visual” fart jokes are very rare. I’ve thought about this post and now have to wonder. Exactly why the camera was pointed at that guy that way for that long? It’s definitely a hoax. But as for the body temperature argument the guy was dressed and the clothes would not be at body temperature and contrast with internal body temp which could account for all this.

I am so sorry about this. But now it’s kind of interesting.

  20. Ken in Berkeley says:

Watch this YouTube video on how to hoax an infrared fart. The black gas seen in the video is actually something really cold, not hot.

  21. ECA says:

    20,
But what if this was a test of a Dispersal system, to spread Gas’ or spread Diease or toxins…
Wonder around a crowd in Downtown NY, and gas 1/2 the population and no one could trace you…

  22. cheese says:

#20 – I was thinking that, too. Our Thermal imager we use in the F.D. shows warm objects as white and cold objects as dark. Hot Items are in color.

You can see footprints with it.

  23. Scott says:

It is fake. The gas would be lighter, not dark.

  24. Danijel says:

But as for the body temperature argument the guy was dressed and the clothes would not be at body temperature and contrast with internal body temp which could account for all this.

The hand was totally white tho and it had no clothes on… Whiter must mean warmer….

  25. TJGeezer says:

How can anybody take this video as genuine? Something about it just smells wrong, you know?

  26. Ted Forester says:

Dvorak is usually one step ahead, well I guess I was 3 steps ahead this time. I had this posted on my blog on Dec. 7 2006 (6:26 p.m.)

  27. Greg Allen says:

OK, the majority vote fake. Me too.

But who has infrared cameras to goof around with?

Did he do it with “night mode” on his regular camera and then filter out the green color in iMovie?

Or, was it a bored Homelands Security worker who paid his buddy with beers to do this in front of his inspection unit?

If the “fart” was cold, rather than hot, his buddy could have sprayed just about any aerosol — hairspray comes to mind.
