What does Britney make of all this?

Why do you think she shaved her head? It wasn’t to look like SinĂ©ad, y’know… 🙂

She really shouldn’t worry about atomic weapons in the hands of dimwitted religious fanatics, though; I happen to have it on the very best of authority that Islam is a religion of peace. Ain’t that reassuring?

  3. GregA says:

How does this help Bush start his war in Iran?

  4. Dave McCall says:

Did Johnny C. do the “Countdown to Armageddon” graphic? Kind of makes you feel like armageddon can’t come soon enough to blind you to the cheesiness of DU (as I write this in an edit field next to an ad for the “One Gig Watch”). I imagine Johnny C. feels the same way.

It’s interesting that nobody seems too concerned that Pakistan has nukes and the medium range missiles needed to deliver them. What kind of double standard allows one Muslim country to posses nukes but not another? People will argue that Pakistan is our ally and President Gen. Pervez Musharraf is our friend. If we had used the same logic in 1978 when Iran was our ally and Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was our friend, would we have been as comfortable with them possessing medium range missiles with nukes? Just as the U.S. sponsored dictator in Iran was overthrown by radical Muslims, it’s only a matter of time before this U.S. sponsored dictator in Pakistan is overthrown by radical Muslims. Then they’ll have their nukes.

  6. Greg Allen says:

Those of us who lived in the Cold War remember the talk about “15 minutes to Armageddon.” For Europe it was something like 4 minutes.

(The amount of time a general has to decide if a nuke is coming or if it’s just a harmless bogey.)

Between Pakistan and India, it must be something like a 30 seconds.

And there are a lot of itchy twitchy trigger fingers in both of those countries. And neither country is well-known for their safeguards.

This is a very serious issue — those two countries having nukes.

  7. Rance Bleester says:

I note approvingly that Mumbai is within the deadly circle. Too bad about Bangalore – maybe they’ll improve the range soon. Lesse, if every laid off US software monkey ponied up $50 each….

What an interesting world. Tune: “Some of My Favorite Things”:

    Idiots, nincompoops, slack-jawed mouth-breathers,
    Neocon politics giving us fevers,
Christians and Muslims all bound up in hate,
And Pakistan now is a nuclear state,
    Umpapa umpapa…
