York Dispatch – Pulitzer winner explores Dover case in ‘Monkey Girl’ — The book, Monkey Girl, which explores the Intelligent Design debate is on the shelves. This is a good run-down of it. What caught my eye was the reference to Oxycontin. I wonder if there is a connection between that drug and religiosity?
The book gives a bigger glimpse into the private lives and personal beliefs of intelligent design proponents, such as Buckingham, and opponents, such as former school board members Jeff and Casey Brown, than was presented during most of the media coverage of the trial; this was one way to convey the “disconnect” between the people who were on different sides of the debate, Humes said.
“I found (Buckingham’s) personal history, his situation with his addiction to Oxycontin and his despondency to medical problems, it really informs his whole role in this story. … I think it’s a valuable part of this story,” Humes said.
Because the book was written by a Pulitzer prize winner, it wont be read by ID believers. Secondly, because it is a book, it wont be read by ID believers.
Noted.
What about all the believers who weren’t in anyway chemically dependent? How did they come to their beliefs.
Geesh, a Pulitzer? As long as they got that, no challenges eh? Actually there are books on intelligent design, so we know many of them have at least one.
I have my own theory are the other side of this. Maybe resentment early in life against say, dad or mistreatment from religious types, drives your views. Plenty other ways that can come about also.
I tink mabe I red dat in a book somwhere.
Romans1:
21: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23: And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24: Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
I’m just fine with you calling me a dumby for trusting in God. There will always be those who think they are much smarter, and God will give them up to their vain imagination. Its your choice.
“Dumby”. LOL.
4: The above opinions from Paul certainly apply to the ID fundies, who have the hubris to tell their god how to create the universe.
The evidence of how speciation happens (from evolutionary science of course) has been there all along.
My wife is a monkey girl and two of my kids are monkey kids, nothing wrong with that. Since we come from very different backgrounds and different races I expected odd cricumstances. As far as evolution goes, its appearant in every aspect of our lives even today, imagine what our ansestor experienced many thousands of years ago. Today I see the sturggles between both ends of the evolve, those that accept and push to evolve both mentally and physicaly and those that would prefer to limit or even devolve into what seemed like an acceptable station a few thousand years ago. I wonder how many more years it will take before we lose our superstitious backward pasts.
Remember: Evolution is a fact. End of story.
The “theory of evolution” is our best idea of how evolution works, which is still not completely understood. But there is no question that it happened, and continues to happen.
Compare this to gravity: It’s a fact. Nobody disputes it. But there are only theories on how it works. Nobody knows yet.
Higghawker, what I find amusing in your belief of the god superstitions is the continuous unconstructive prophesying your kind does that all non-believers are doomed by your gods that seem to be conveniently absent appearing ignorant to all the war, starvation and other atrocities yet consumed making statues cry, faces appear on toast or concert stains and making sure all their twisted disciples argue about sex and gather worthless riches amongst themselves
I cant seem to get this right.
God created man Or Man created God?
#1 – Secondly, because it is a book, it wont be read by ID believers.
Bwahahahahahahahahaha 🙂
#4 – I’m just fine with you calling me a dumby for trusting in God. There will always be those who think they are much smarter, and God will give them up to their vain imagination. Its your choice.

It isn’t that I think your are dumb. It’s just that on this issue you’re wrong.
#10 – God created man Or Man created God?
Man created God… Which is why #4 is wrong.
If you want to have a better understanding of the evolution of man please read Rudolf Steiner.
