Never give an iguana Viagra | Oddly Enough | Reuters.com — Why was the animal given viagra in the first place? When you start reading the story it’s never made clear if the animal was EVER given Viagra or what this was really all about. Geez. How about taking Journalism 101 before putting these stories to bed.

ANTWERP, Belgium (Reuters) – Mozart, an iguana with an erection that has lasted for over a week, will have his penis amputated in the next couple of days.

Veterinarians at Antwerp’s Aquatopia had sought to treat the animal’s problem, but decided removal was the only solution because of the risk of infection. The good news for Mozart and his mates is that male iguanas have two penises.

    Wow! Two penis’s?
One penis gets me in a heep of trouble already. I bet those poor little guys get nothing accomplished with two of those things.

Argh. I can’t even begin to comment. However, the article never says he was given the V stuff.

Gives the old phrase “hornier’n a two-peckered billygoat” a new twist.
As a nice side benefit, you could nail him to the wall and have a nice hat rack.
    Helluva bidniz opportunity, I think.
Maybe these guys aren’t so dumb after all.

Years ago, a baby gorilla in the Omaha zoo caught chicken pox. Pics of the spotted beast flashed around the world on both AP and UPI, and got picked up by newspapers in I don’t know how many countries.

Same thing here, but done internet style – animal story of interest, with added supermarket tabloid overtones. Journalism? Stories like this have nothing to do with journalism. People just find them irresistible. I mean, you picked it up, didn’t you?

Jeez, John C… #5 is almost as cranky as you! 😉

Just one more reason to laugh at the commercials when the narrator says “If you have an erection that lasts longer than four hours…”

I guess the lizard should kiss bye bye to doing a double penetration trick.

  13. iguana owner says:

The funniest part of the story for me was the picture caption. It said the iguana was laying in wait for his prey. Iguanas are vegetarians. I love it when news organizations can’t get the basics right.
