Latest News | WFAA.com — It could just be what they are looking for in Texas: A SIGN of the end times.
AUSTIN, Texas — Police shut down 10 blocks of businesses in the heart of downtown early Monday after dozens of birds were found dead in the streets, but officials said preliminary tests showed no dangerous chemicals in the air.
As many as 60 dead pigeons, sparrows and grackles were found overnight along Congress Avenue, a main route through downtown. No human injuries or illnesses were reported.

Are you blogging from MacWorld 2, John?
iPhone looks pretty cool.
Not sure what happened but as a resident of Austin, I can say that it would have to be million dead grackles to make a dent.
A bunch of birds ate some moldy bird seed out of someones yard and croaked.
As a side note, I have been flipped the bird on a number of occasions.
Where’s Tom Lehrer?
J/P=?
Actually, getting rid of the grackles WOULD be a sign of the end-times – at least make Austin a bit closer to heaven on earth.
Quick!! Nuke Austin to stop the bird flu from spreading!

I have to go see if there’s a TL Fark.com clichĂ© on Tom.
I remember a story from a few years back, in Texas too I think, a bank manager had placed poisened seeds on the roof, because too many pigeons were using the clients for target pratice.
Or was that story Tom’s inspiration?
//my history is confused
Weird, I was just walking up Congress avenue last month, late at night, and noted all of the bird song. 60 is not overly much for that area. You should see what they do to the cars….
Was this one part of Pat Robertson’s predictions?
Flying rats. Yawn.
Somehow seeing dead Shit Hawks brings out the glee in me.
As a resident of Austin I can say it was quite disconcerting. Normally, who cares, but with the whole deal in NYC at the same time it felt really weird.
Did John take a dump in the port-a-potty again? Those are for the construction workers dude.
Don’t mess with Texas.
