Diamond star thrills astronomers
Twinkling in the sky is a diamond star of 10 billion trillion trillion carats, astronomers have discovered.
The cosmic diamond is a chunk of crystallised carbon, 4,000 km across, some 50 light-years from the Earth in the constellation Centaurus.
It’s the compressed heart of an old star that was once bright like our Sun but has since faded and shrunk.
Astronomers have decided to call the star “Lucy” after the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Picture yourelf in a boat on a river with tangerine people and a giant DIMOND!
If your fiancee complains that her diamond ring is too small replace the fiancee, not the ring.
Ya just gotta love the name.
If your fiancee complains that her diamond ring is too small, what else is she complaining about is too small?
Does that mean the universe is full of “diamond stars”, or is this one a special case?
Meanwhile in other astronomy news they’ve found a giant chunk of cubic zirconia in the K-Mart nebula.

Yeah, some dope sect might want to catch a ride on the next comet and get there… 😉
In other news, the De Beers Corporation has announced its intention to form a new space travel division…
That explains everything.
I have to say from this girl’s point of view, the diamond is nice to look at but there really isn’t a practical purpose to having a ring that size not to mention large ones that already exist here on earth.
I bet Diddy already owns it 😉
My motto: No hymen, no diamond!
Bad, I know…
ok, my question is this – aren’t stars big helium and/or hydrogen fusion reactors? where does the carbon come from?
#13: Read this: Carbon Fusion Process
#14. Thanks for the link. very informative.
that HAS to be a hoax. Impossible.
For many women, that diamond still wouldn’t be large enough. 😉
