OCEANSIDE – Detectives probing the slaying of police Officer Dan Bessant believe MySpace may hold key information about the sniping suspect and could identify other co-conspirators in the shooting, court records show.
On Friday, detectives obtained the MySpace records of Meki Gaono, 17, a gang member charged with murder.
He also is charged with two counts of attempted murder for firing at another officer and a civilian ride-along. Gaono has pleaded not guilty. A search warrant for the records was filed Dec. 22, two days after Bessant was killed, a court affidavit obtained yesterday shows. Gaono’s MySpace page is private, which means only people he lists as “friends” can view his profile page. However, his profile picture of a cartoon gangster dressed head to toe in red is visible to anyone.
What’s weird John? Is it that you don’t think a gang-banger who shot a cop would be stupid enough to tell his friends about it? Then you are sadly mistaken, MANY crimes are solved because the morons who committed them brag about it.
It doesn’t matter if the bragging takes place in some bar somewhere or on MySpace.
Actually these retards are required to brag about their exploits. It’s how they earn their street cred. Can’t stagger around being disprespected now can we?
Lets home these idiots keep opening their mouths. It’s good that myspace layouts are helping to solve crime.
The police used search warrants and specified the information they were searching for and why. I have no problem. I don’t even think this opens up any slippery slope arguments.
