Daily Echo – Saturday 23rd December 2006:
A MUM whose premature baby needed a life-saving blood transfusion on Christmas Day today backed a new campaign to attract donors.
Toni Limb’s son Matthew – who was born 15 weeks early and weighed just 1lb 14oz – was given 13 vital transfusions as he fought for his life.
Matthew needed multiple blood transfusions to save his life – including one vital intervention on Christmas Day itself last year.
Now Toni is joining forces with the National Blood Service (NBS) to encourage more people to give the perfect present this Christmas and New Year – blood that could save someone’s life.Mum Toni, 24, from Osmington, near Weymouth, said: “Without blood, Matthew wouldn’t have survived, he was very poorly. That’s why I’m appealing for more blood donors to come forward this Christmas.
“While those donors in Dorset were at home enjoying their Christmas dinner, their blood was saving my son’s life.
