Pentagon Alters Homosexuality Guidelines
Pentagon guidelines that classified homosexuality as a mental disorder now put it among a list of conditions or “circumstances” that range from bed-wetting to fear of flying.
The new rules are related to the military’s retirement practices. The change does not affect the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that prohibits officials from inquiring about the sex lives of service members and requires discharges of those who openly acknowledge being gay.
The revision came in response to criticism this year when it was discovered that the guidelines listed homosexuality alongside mental retardation and personality disorders.
Mental health professionals said Thursday they were not satisfied by the change.

What nations allow gay and lesbians to join the military? England, Canada, Germany, the UK, New Zealand, ISRAEL, even Thailand allows them.
What nations don’t allow gay and lesbians to join the military? RUSSIA, SAUDI ARABIA, BELARUS, CROATIA, EGYPT, NORTH KOREA.
That does explain a lot of things.

One of the things I can never forgive Bill Clinton for is not putting a stop to this balderdash once and for all when he had the chance.
For the record, there have always been gays in the military. There will always be gays in the military. And, there have even been cases of straight men in the military who fool around with each other because they are lonely young horny men with no women around.
I only care if they shoot straight on the battlefield.

The main problem is that the military is a tradition heavy good ol’ boys club that is very resistant to change. And you also have this perception shared by many that gay men are all “sissy boys” who do not fit into the macho, type-A personality category that is desirable for people who go off to fight wars. And as far a lesbians go, you still have a large part of military men who don’t think any women should be in the military, least of all serving in combat; in fact, I work with a couple of them.

Let’s change the variable to which countries still have the death penalty. Does the list change?
Or, which countries have fair and open elections and process where more then 50% of the people vote? Is the list any different? Or is there a commonality there.
NOTE: I don’t know enough about Thailand to measure their democracy or death penalty stance. They could be an aberration.
#7, or how about we change it to which countries have protected rights to free speech, or that promote free enterprise and entrepreneurship. Did the list change? Or are we going to just pick a couple of your pet issues and then use them to make the broad insinuation that we are no better as a society than North Korea, Russia and Saudi Arabia?
I’d like to reclassify the GOP as sexually offensive group. They nominated John Boehner as the House Republican leader today.
You now have Dick, Bush and Boehner running the country. How is that not offensive?

I would argue the United States government does not promote free enterprise and entrepreneurship. In fact, they openly discourage it.
One need look no further than the recent scrap over Internet Neutrality or the FCC rules for corporate ownership of media or how monopolies aren’t really on the radar screen these days…
What we need is to adopt capitalism in the US. What we do now is protect old money, squash newcomers, and set up roadblocks to fair competition.
