“Don’t hurt me, Mr. Baker!”

Why couldn’t Baker have done this years ago?

Crazy Web Claims Pretty Much Confirmed By Newsweek

We found this insane story last week about James Baker III shouting down Cheney and Bush 43 (in a fetal position) in some Godfather-style Oval Office takeover meeting right before the election. It was allegedly told by Newsweek’s Richard Wolffe to Chris Matthews during Election Night coverage, live on MSNBC at 4:30 a.m. — of course there are no transcripts, no YouTube evidence, etc.

But now that Newsweek has pretty much confirmed the whole story, we might as well repeat it here, after the jump.
Here’s the original claim, which appeared on the world’s greatest lunatic website (Godlike Productions) on Thursday:

Wolffe relates that he and a few select Senior media were there when Junior bush received this 1’ thick report/recommendations.

1) Baker informed Junior bush First of all – “EVERYBODY HATES YOU.” This amazed & humbled Junior bush. Baker was NOT alone with Junior bush was confronted with the above issues. Baker – “The people HATE YOU.” Junior bush turned white, the blood leaving his face, turning White – visible drawing up as in FETAL with his hands clasped in his lap.

2)Baker – ” you KNOW your not a leader – Your a Cheerleader.” Those in the room gave a silent – YA you got that right – it’s about time he was told the TRUTH!!!

  1. Floyd says:

Dunno if the story is entirely true, but Baker would have been far better Republican presidential material in 2000 than Dubya.

  2. Baker is not as funny.

  3. Greg Allen says:

“Everybody hates you” of course isn’t literally true about Bush but it is politically true… in the same way that “every body hated Nixon” before he resigned.

Of course there were a few diehard supporters of Nixon then but even they couldn’t really defend him.

The same for Bush supporters now — how many can our would actually claim Bush is doing a good job?

Yeah, this looks credible. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

#31…Mr. Fusion….I just finished reading an interesting article in the London Times. It’s speculative at best, but not so far out of the realm of reality to just dismiss.
This scenerio would be a direct result of Bakers stepping in at Daddy Bush’s behest.
At the end, it asks if the premise of the article would be fulfilled by Bush, or a President H. Clinton or President McCain. I would give you 50/50 odds on a President Bush, and 80/20 odds on a President McCain. Why….because H.Clinton couldn’t pull it off, only a war hero like McCain or a hard liner like Bush, just as no Democrat could have pulled off the China thing…..only a Nixon could have done it.

    Here’s the link….it’s a good article.

Ah, yes — it’s heartwarming to see the Republikans return to their racist roots. You can continue to ignore history, ethics, reality, now that Trent Lott is providing “new” guidance.

    Let the rationales flow.

Well I disagree with you there. Nixon went to China only after other western countries had already started trade agreements. Canada, and I believe Australia, had been selling wheat to China for a few years already and were looking to expand trade. Nixon went at the urging of several forward thinking corporations. Also, China was the enemy of our then enemy, North Vietnam, and you know how that endears them to us (ref. Reagan and Iraq v. Iran).

I still think McCain has too much baggage in the Republican party which is why he didn’t get any plum Chairmanships over the past five years.

I also think you’ll find that almost all former Secretaries of State are among the brightest and best Civil Servants. Baker is no exception although the last two are of dubious quality. The problem comes about when those with no expertise think they know best and over ride the Sec. of State.

  9. catbeller says:

“Balance”. The word does not mean that you present both “sides” of a story, if one of the sides presents false or misleading information. “Reality,” Stephen Colbert said to the crowd and Bush himself, “has a well-known liberal bias”.

Bush is a liar. His side has no cred anymore. Presenting stories that show him to be incompetent and a liar are just news, not slant. There’s no other “side” to present. The sky isn’t green. We don’t have to present a side that says it is. Even Limbaugh finally, this week, blew his stack at the crap he had to spew to maintain cred with the rightists.

Now, as for this story: I assume someone is having a little fun at Bush Jr.’s expense here. BUT — the essentials are true. Baker and company have landed at the White House. Bush apparently had a meeting with them, and Cheney was slapped down. Bush has his own “think tank” working on a report to counter Baker’s Iraq Study Group, so we’re having a little intergenerational spat — but I’m on Dad’s side here. Bush Jr. has gone way, way too far and is getting hundreds of thousands of people killed and is on the verge of starting a religious war, a TRUE world war, over the idea that the “road to Jerusalem lies through Bagdad”, as the Neocons put it, that they are converting the Moslems to democracy to secure the oil and Israel. It ain’t working, and I for one am fascinated with the unexpected parachute landing of Bush 41’s Sergeant Baker and his Howling Commandos on the White House lawn.

#41…Moss….sorry there dude….but you seem to be the one ignoring history, truth etc., etc……
It’s not the Republicans with the bigot past. You might want to peek at the Civil War, and notice which party was doing what. Then you might want to look at the Democratic party for the next 99 years and what they stood for(something called, lynchings, KKK, Jim Crow laws, segregation). The Republicans didn’t have flat out KKK members in the House and Senate(do the names Long, Byrd, mean anything to you).
And when Johnson tried to pass the Civil Rights Bill in 1964, he had to ask the Republicans to bail him out, because his own party wouldn’t pass it.

Since 1964, quite a few of the former bigots from the Democrat party have joined the Republican party, thats a given. But the party itself has never ever come close to being the bigotted mess the Democrats were for most of their history.
