The creator of this did it for his masters thesis in animation.

Did that cute little die? In my mind he landed on a big springy mattress .

Did that cute little Kiwi die? In my mind he landed on a big springy mattress .

  4. JoaoPT says:

    Lame

  5. FRAGaLOT says:

JoaoPT is jelious, he never got his masters degree using suicidal Kiwis. Or he’s just an asshole.

  6. Haywood Jablome says:

    BFD!

  7. Gary Marks says:

The real lesson with the kiwi is that hopes and dreams can kill, and it’s tragic. With your help, we can stamp out all hopes and dreams within our lifetime. Please send your donations to me as I work tirelessly toward this goal.

    Stamp out hope.
    Stamp out dreams.
    Stamp out hope and dreams.
    Oh, and send donations.

Great door knocker for Weta or Pixar.

Bet his student loans wont take forever to pay off.

  9. Tom says:

Yeah i think i saw his wings get bigger and he flew back to his people.

  10. Skippy says:

Uh, I don’t get it. What was the rope for?

  11. Gary Marks says:

#11, he used the rope to build his vertical landscape. I would have used a scaffold myself, but poor little kiwis don’t have a lot of resources. So sad, so sad…

  12. bperboy@gmail.com says:

That was really good, that poor kiwi though!

  13. Miguel says:

I found this touching! The little critter was so desperate to fly he didn’t mind to die for it… It’s a beautiful dream… He planned it, worked for it, and lived it…

    2. – The springy mattress didn’t occur to me… It could be possible, but then the last sound would be a ‘boing’, not a ‘pofff’… I like your optimism, though 🙂

I still feel sorry for sad cartoon stories like this, just like when I was 4 and saw some sad scene in Kimba on a B/W TV… 36 years later, I’m still an old child…

  14. edwinrogers says:

That thud sound was the sound barrier.

  15. James says:

Laugh? Break my heart? It did neither. What a waste of 3 minutes.

  16. gary says:

Does anyone remember R, Crumb’s Kiwi?

  17. 2xbob says:

    I laughed, I cried, I loved it

  18. joshua says:

This was excellent. I feel a profound sense of loss after that last sound. I sure hope it was a mattress.

  19. Carl says:

Good animation. The light and shadow, story line, realism of movement, etc. were all very professionally done. What rendering software was used? What kind of system was the rendering done on? Also, the way the story line was developed with questions slowly being answered was very professional story development. I suspect this person has a real future in animation and will be snatched up fairly quickly by an animation studio. This person has a future… unlike those dope-smoking losers with no future who just don’t get it.

  20. lava says:

aw its so cute and sad at the same time. poor little guy.

  21. JoaoPT says:

    #5 I’m an asshole

  22. Miguel Correia says:

Beautiful, profound and sad. Well, at least that kiwi flew, even if it was his last flight.

  23. David Buice says:

Wonderful…Beautiful…a tried and true concept from thousands of years… A leap of faith, with proper preparation and your dreams can come true.

  24. Jerome says:

Could it have been the sound of a parachute opening? Perhaps the end wasn’t “shown” to allow the veiwer to come to their own conclusion? As the kiwi was that resourseful why would that mean it’s suicidal as well?

  25. Scorpiocov says:

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! The negative comments are from insecure and dubious people. The animation however, is STUNNING!! APPLAUSE APPLAUSE!!!!!

    Mr “A” 🙂

  26. Miguel says:

The kiwi wouldn’t be crying if there was some parachute or mattress… Then again, his fellow kiwis might have planned something he wasn’t aware of… 😉

  27. Hugo says:

    He worked so hard…

  28. Gary Marks says:

Maybe the ending wasn’t shown to allow for the possibility of a sequel, in true Hollywood style. Of course, now that he’s a star, our fine feathered kiwi friend has salary demands commensurate with his new status, and his agent is negotiating a three-picture deal with the newly rejuvenated United Artists studio reputed to be well into 8 figures. UA’s other new attraction, Tom Cruise, may even costar in the first of those pictures. Cruise and the kiwi have reportedly become best friends, since Cruise has long been a firm believer in things that don’t exist.

Surely I mean no offense to devotees of Scientology.

  29. ShareeNeff says:

Great job! The emotional aspect was adorable and the dare devil stunt even better! I’m an aspiring animator and hope to achieve the level of simplicity and entertainment your animation provides. Great job again!
