Men are more intelligent than women, claims new study | the Daily Mail — This should create an interesting debate. Ha.

It is research that is guaranteed to delight men – and infuriate the women in their lives. A controversial new study has claimed that men really are more intelligent than women.

The study – carried out by a man – concluded that men’s IQs are almost four points higher than women’s.

British-born researcher John Philippe Rushton, who previously created a furore by suggesting intelligence is influenced by race, says the finding could explain why so few women make it to the top in the workplace.

He claims the ‘glass ceiling’ phenomenon is probably due to inferior intelligence, rather than discrimination or lack of opportunity.

    23. Intelligence is a measure of one’s ability to arrange thoughts and communicate them in some form or fashion so as to solve a problem, affect emotions and/or cause action in another human being. I whole-heartedly believe that everyone is born a genius. However, that genius is shunned by a belief in the mind, an illusion of ourselves and the world. Real intelligence comes from something higher than mind. The mind only processes it. But our minds are too busy with a conceptualization of the world and thus cannot access what is higher (some call this spirit, super mind, or the collective unconscious). If you want to see real intelligence in action watch children under the age of 4 (before they get corrupted by schooling).

    >Is 4 pints in IQ a lot?

Yes, that’s a half gallon of IQ.

Hell- I knowed I was more intelligent already.

As #11 Evil Sandmich points out, the female bell curve is narrower. So Rushton’s result, a study of University students, is the expected result ! But no, it does not prove that men have a higher IQ than women. It might indicate that people of higher than average IQ go to University (and thus one supposes is a validation, albeit a weak one, of both the education system and IQ tests).

“The FDA approved a drug that reduces the chance of certain types of heart-attacks by 50%, but it only works on black men. Clearly race matters. Does race impact intelligence?”

The drug was purposely targeted to African-American men as a way to get FDA approval. A smaller target population results in smaller test groups and quicker approval. There is some talk of closing this loophole considering the tendency of the practice to backfire because the research on the drug is insufficient. If the drug had been properly tested on a wide cross section it probably would not have been approved at all since the evidence for its efficacy is not strong.

We are told that BiDil showed great success in black patients. That doesn’t mean very much because it was only tested on black patients. There is literally no evidence that the drug works better on one racial group than on another.

It amuses me that the BiDil fraud has become something bigots like you think supports their bigotry. The fact that you don’t even know the facts behind the situation makes me doubt your intelligence.

    > No one has ever been able to prove that an IQ test measures anything >objective

If you’re a college admissions person, are you saying that you think a group of people who scored an IQ of 80 would do just as well as a group scoring 120?
