Dammit, I wasn’t going to spend any money this week.
I was going to get one, then I noticed that you have to use 6 C batteries to charge it. Do they get money from battery companys? How hard is it to make an AC charger? Also, anyone know if you can get an off brand AC charger for this?
If it’s anything like the one that appeared 2 years ago aroung Christmas, the charge will only last 2-3 minutes.
It may require more current to charge than a cheap wall wart can delivery. I seem to remember those tiny remote cars used AA cells to charge them in about 90 seconds. It would also charge faster from a battery source. Wouldn’t be much fun if after 60 seconds of flight you had to wait 6 hours for a charge.
Saw this link over a year ago too, though didn’t buy one yet.
Combined with my laser pointer, the ultimate Make My Cats Go Nuts device !
Cat…
1. Hide
2. Pretend it’s not there
3. As soon as those green eyes look somewhere else…
4. Run up
5. Leap
6. Catch
7. Bite Down Hard
8. Walk away with prize !
They’ve got ’em at ThinkGeek.com too, for $40. I’m planning to buzz my jerk neighbor with one when she goes to work at 5 a.m. (ok, it’s just a daydream. but a fun one.)
If you are not scared by that fact that $70 can buy this, imagine what $70 million can buy when your pockets is as deep as the governments. It is time to end civilization now before we are all doomed by technology in the hands of the few. THE VERY, VERY FEW!
#6 Is this thing cat proof? It is rubber or metal? I’d love to get one but I don’t want it to be trashed the first time my cat intercepts it from on top of the kitchen cabinets.
I WANT ONE!!
Lithium Polymer
Capacity 150 mAh
Voltage 3.7 Volts
Rechargeable Yes
Battery Average Run Time 6 MINUTES
Recharge Time 30 MINUTES
Id see about changeing tha batteries for the 2200mah
Thinkgeek has a helicopter but it’s not the mosquito version that John posted here. see link:

And when you want more of a challange – and much less money in the bank – these folks are waiting to accept your order…

Oh yeah, they also compete at the ~$70 price point…
http://www.rctoys.com/bladerunner.php
Includes … batteries [LiPo], charger and radio-control transmitter.
The Bladerunner has up to 8 minutes flying time from a 20 minute charge.
There’s a product called the dragonfly king that’s almost exactly the same design as this “new” radio shack copter that I got last year off the internet. Did I mention it only costed $45? It’s worth looking to see if they still have them around.
Cool. But only a matter of time before someone puts a camera and transmitter in it, and spies on the neighbors. I also foresee many other nefarious uses.
I bought one of the Dragonfly King copters from ThinkGeek and I have to say, WOW. It was very easy to fly, and those of you worried that the cat mak get it, mine is scared to death. It is kinda slow forwad and backward, but I’m replacing the tail rotor motor with a cell phone vibrate motor. ZOOM ZOOM
