Why is this man smiling, eh?

The chairman of the publicly funded Canadian Broadcasting Corp. has resigned after remarks about bestiality and ruminations about defecation, Canadian Heritage Minister Bev Oda said on Tuesday.

Guy Fournier created an uproar in Canada’s Lebanese community and in the media when he claimed that Lebanon allowed men to have sexual relations with female animals, but reserved the death penalty for those who did so with male animals.

In comments made in May, and replayed in a CBC weekend interview, he talked at length about the joys of bowel movements.

“He has increasingly lost the confidence of Canada’s new government,” Oda told the House of Commons. “I inform this House that I have received the voluntary resignation of Mr. Fournier effective today.”

I wonder if this isn’t just a case of a public servant having a sense of humor too fey for the public he serves?

The use of “eh” in the title is not the proper way to use it. “And this man is still smiling eh?” would be more accurate in defense of our friendly neighbors to the north.

My kin up on PEI say I can “eh” anywhere I want.

I used to live with a former girlfriend whose sister used to stay with us every now and then. I started noticing a pattern that every time I finished using the toilet to do number “2”, she would follow almost immediately in to use the bathroom next. This happened more than chance. The only thing I could come up with was that smell of excrement turned her on. I almost got to the point of not even flushing when I was done when she was around so that she might take her fantasy to a new level. I opted out, though. Point is, some people just have different turn ons. Nothing wrong with it. I walked into Madonna’s home to do a delivery one time and when I was alone picked up her tennis shoe and took a whif. Did another customer’s panty once too. Experimentation is good. I never stuck with either disgusting behaviour.

Its only disgusting if you are caught!

When you reach a certain age, the prospect of being regular can be exciting. If you don’t believe it look at all the fiber products on the shelf. On the other hand the guy could be going around the bend a bit.

  6. Eideard says:

#3 — reminds me of yet another tale I dare not put in print — though I can admit to having spent decades in the bicycle trade.

It is only disgusting if caught by someone who doesn’t enjoy the same pleasures. Otherwise, …

  8. Peter Garner says:

re: bowel movements, I believe the jist of what he said was that at his age (75) a bowel movement is more pleasurable than making love. Here in Quebec, that’s pretty tame, but I guess if you translate it into English and send it out of context to the the ROC, it becomes a big deal.

That said, the other remarks were apparently pretty controversial, and I wouldn’t dream of defending them. It should be said, however, that the current administration was just waiting for a chance to get rid of him. He probably would have been sacked for the bowel movement remark alone. The other comments were just gravy.

  9. TJGeezer says:

Nobody gives the context here. Where did he make those remarks and to what listener or audience? Was it a public talk at the Lebanese Bestiality and Bowel Movement Society, was he repeating a weird urban legend he’d heard, or maybe privately expressing a deeply held personal belief? It all may be just a tempest in the “pot” but the story as it stands is like one of those “news at 11” teasers.

Eideard, I suspect you are defending him because you share his bigotry against Muslims. (Not that all Lebanese are Muslim, but you wouldn’t know that.)

  11. RBG says:

What makes you think Guy Fournier is bigoted against Muslims? Did he not insult all 18 of Lebanon’s constitutionally recognized religious groups with his comment? But you would know that.

Is this the guy who crapped on the SPINACH?
