I don’t get it… maybe I’m not enough of a redneck to get the joke?
What is that on the sign? A brick?
meens stay out
It is supposed to look like a block of C4. Duh.
Some people really need to work on their communication skills.
Improbus
I guess you speak Redneck?
I grew up a redneck then I got better.
I found the pic to be mildly amusing, but not the source of an intellectual debate. Cripes.
I’m perplexed also. What is this, a brick on a red disk? I know redneck iconography fairly well and this doesn’t seem to qualify. At least for the eastern American redneck. First of all, it has been painted in the last 30 years. There are no bullet holes in the sign. The sign is close enough to the road to have been used as a target for empty Budweiser cans, but there are none on the surrounding ground. This conflicts with the normal pattern of leaving cans on the ground until a pick-up truck load has accumulated, which can be sold at a scrap yard and the proceeds used to buy more Budweiser. In a true Deliverance zone this sign would be used as a flag in redneck 4X4 impromptu “getting home at 5AM” off-road slalom events. But, there are no tire ruts in the nearby grass or signs of automotive paint on the sign or post. The grass by the way, is freshly mowed and surrounds the nicely graded road without any sign of monster truck traffic.
The house is a little to far away to see. There does appear to be a sag in the roof. This could be just lens distortion and not evidence of a “round tuit” maintenance methodology. There is no visible satellite dish, vehicle on blocks, pack of inbred pit bulls, Confederate or Nazi memorabilia in this picture. These items are not electives. What might be a propane tank on the far left is also a safe distance from the residence. Typical redneck landscape architecture calls for this to be located closer to the residence, near a heat source, such as a 55 gallon recycled toxic waste drum converted into a grill. Since this is a still shot and not a video, there is no way to know if banjo music being played nearby. Too bad, that would help.
0, the initial response was a good laugh.
4, the “C-4” got me howling
8, ROTFL
good thread. an apology out there to rednecks. we’re laughing WITH you.
Good lord guys. Just chuckle at it and move on.
whats better? the picture itself or what its doing to people here ?

Comment by John C Dvorak ”
John you have to accept the fact that you attract a more sophisticated and intellectual audience. I suspect we are also more physically attractive, but I lack the evidence to support the claim.
I appears that you are all over thinking this one.

Standard “Do Not Enter” Traffic Sign
In Russia, they call “Do Not Enter” sign “The Brick”. Looks like someone took it literally and made it that way.
# 7 John
Ah jeez! We are all just kidding! 🙂 Not that there is anything all that intellectual about any of this.
Improbus
Is that such common thing in the south that you were able to clearly recognize a brick of C4?
rctaylor
I am stunningly handsome! I would prove it but my shear attractiveness would make the commoner go blind. lol 🙂
13. Your comment inspired me to run “do not enter” in the anagram server, http://wordsmith.org/anagram/index.html . I only found one interesting word/phrase: rotten node.
favorite: Evangelist = Evil’s Agent (more: http://wordsmith.org/anagram/hof.html )
Unfortunately, John C. Dvorak has NO anagrams! You’re name is fortified, John.
Rednecks, beer, politics and anagrams have gotten into this silly thread… might as well continue the fun.
My favorite anagram:
Republican :: Can Burp Lie
(or for a more visual ‘burp’ anagram)
President Bush :: Needs Burp Shit
If you are going to the trouble of making a howler like this, why not use a bunch of road flares to simulate some dynamite?
