No, That’s Not a Penis Pump, Mom. Really — And of course his having an Arabic name made this work out oh so much better. But who travels with this sort of device in the first place? What a nutjob.

Cook County prosecutors say a 29-year-old man traveling with his mother desperately didn’t want her to know he’d packed a sexual aid for their trip to Turkey.

So he told security it was a bomb, officials said.

Madin Azad Amin, 29, of Skokie, was stopped Aug. 16 at O’Hare International Airport after guards found an object in his baggage that resembled a grenade, prosecutors said.

When officers asked him to identify it, Amin said it was a bomb, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Lorraine Scaduto.

  1. Adam Shields says:

This is bad journalism (not Dvorak) the original article. The guy said, ‘it s pump, don’t show my mom.” He is from Iraq and had a strong accent, there isn’t an equivalent sound as P in Iraq so it sounded like Bumb or as the security though, ‘Bomb’. The security now says that he said it was a pump after they arrested him interrogated him for hours. Cook County prosecutors are going to still prosecute him, even through pretty much everyone agrees it was a misunderstanding based on a strong accent. He is a legal immigrant which means he can be deported if convicted of any crime so he has to fight it to remain in the US. By the way I did not see a picture of the device but I have heard that the pump was mostly clear and in no way looked like a bomb and was flagged only because the security didn’t know what it was, not because he thought it looked like a bomb.

Thank God airline security has come far enough that we can count on being protected from sex aids.

Tomorrow Donald Rumsfeld and Tony Snow will brief the White House Press Corp about genuine but non specific evidence proving the existence of dildos in Iran.

  3. James Hill says:

Like those TSA guys don’t know what a penis pump is…

  4. Mr. H. Fusion says:

Sometimes Homeland Security just has to be idiots. If the prosecutors were smart, which is itself a debatable point, they would apologize and quickly drop the charges. Things like this do nothing to ensure the traveling publics safety and does everything to make us become indifferent to actual threats.

Of course, there will be the crowd that insist he be pilloried because he is mid-eastern.

He needs to talk with that Judge that was using one while in court!

  6. Donovan says:

Wow! One article that exposes the idiocy of our security-obsessed, culture of fear AND the media that would rather crack dumb jokes than report actual news.

A lot of value packed into one article.

Austin Powers comes to mind when reading this story.
