Bla, bla, bla, bla, bla
EETimes.com – The 21st century Lucky Strike — A funny essay found in, of all places, EETimes. It’s about the cell phone boors out there! Gak!
Here in Paris, I exercise similar caution when approaching mobile users on the street. Whether facing them or coming up from behind, I allow two feet of passing margin, because these people–without warning–tend to lurch, wobble, veer, drift drunkenly and even strike out in sudden seizures of verbal animation.
While driving, mobile talkers normally require two full lanes and a half-dozen car-lengths–front and back–to accommodate their car, their phone, their life-or-death discussion, their career, their personal importance, their bustling, affluent lifestyle and their total obliviousness to the traffic that careens around them at 75 mph.
It’s even worse when they do that while they are driving. I swear, if I could buy an affordable cell phone blocker I would mount it in my car.
Improbus, that would just make it worse as they look down at their suddenly dead phone… 🙂
#1. car-mounted EMP cannon, for both cell-phone distracted drivers and obnoxious subwoofer-blasters.
Given that Europeans are a bit more animated with hand gestures I guess this would be a problem. I want someone to explain to me why a woman has to spend the entire time at the grocer on a telephone. How can someone pay attention to what they’re doing? I saw that today, and when she almost bumped into my cart she threw me a hateful look.
I’ve been rear-ended by a banker yakking on a cell phone. I’m very careful to either not answer calls when driving, or to pull over when I must answer the phone.
An EMP blaster (with shielding kit for my car’s electrical system) would be a very tempting weapon against cell phones.
#5. Floyd, I hope you got out of your car rubbing the back of your neck and muttering “soft tissue injury …”
perhaps one day they find a link between brain cancer and usage of a cell phone at greater than 20 MPH
If only millions of cell phone batteries were being recalled…
If only millions of cell phone batteries were being recalled

Why? are they exploding????
spammers are idiots
9, 10…
It was a joke. 🙂
If millions of cell phone batteries were being recalled, we would have a short break from such “boorish” behavior, wouldn’t we?

9, 10 were jokes too… and I suspect #11 is a joke too
No #11 is Spam sneaking through the cracks. John, WTF?
13 9, 10 were jokes too…
Sigh. I was afraid I was missing something. 🙁
Our office used to be just a couple middle aged guys running things, then the Boss hired a secretary, set her up in the office next to mine, and now I get to listen all the things about her that I never, ever, wanted to know. What the hell is it about these people (both and/or all genders) that demand they blab on about the most exquisitely personal things like sex, personal hygiene, dumbass relationships and all at high volume levels that demand my attention? Apparently people like that have never experienced the pressure relief incurred by posting on blogs.
