No – that’s a stock JCB Loader used for push starts!
The British JCB Dieselmax team has broken the land speed record for diesel powered vehicles, averaging a speed of 328.767 miles per hour, officials confirmed.
The car, driven by Wing Commander Andy Green, broke the record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah after making two runs.
The first run was made at an average speed of 324.248mph with the return run averaging 333.339mph, beating the previous record of 235mph which has stood for more than 30 years.
The JCB Dieselmax he drove was designed by a British team and is powered by a version of the same engine that is used in ordinary JCB vehicles.
Here’s the version they raced!
The twin engines in this critter use the stock block and cylinder heads from the front-end loaders and diggers the JCB manufactures. There are hot rod goodies added; but, the real deal is off-the-shelf.
Bravo!
Hm. If this is progress: What’s the mileage?
OK, I admit. It’s kewl…… 🙂
According to folks at Bonneville, it gets approximately double the mileage of cars capable of the same speed. Whatever that means?
There appears to be tons of folks in the world of automotive engineering capable of all sorts of creative design. Why can’t any of them find work here in the U.S.?
Looks like it would be hard to park.
The British are just too good!! Well done lads!
Does it come with A/C and a CD?
