About time someone deflated this overblown nonsense.
Jackie Mason must be the only sensible Jew in Hollywood.
And he got in some good licks at the inexecrable Abe Foxman in the
bargain.
Foxman is no better than that other demagogue huckster, Morris Dees, at the poorly named Southern Poverty Law Center.
Before we call it incoherent rambling by a drunk, let’s keep something in mind.
Gibson’s alcohol level was 0.12, which just a few years ago was just above the legal limit for driving. Gibson was not all that drunk… at least noe enough for him to be rambling incoherently. He just got pissed off that the great Mr Gibson was being treated like a regular person, and he showed his ‘true colors’ in his anger. It wasn’t the alcohol speaking, it was the ego speaking… once he noticed that the cop was jewish, and that he was being arrested by a Jew, his racist ego could not tolerate it.
The fisrt thing that has to happen here is that Mel Gibson himself must say out loud “I am a racist”, and then work on his problem publicly.
Yes, we laugh at him because we’re jealous. And yes, no one tells the truth when they’re drunk.

Mel’s father is known to be a Holocaust apologist and anti-semite.
Not necessarily so for Mel. Plus, alcohol is not a truth serum. Alcoholics and drunks in general are liable to do and say anything and it may be totally out of character and antithetical to their day-day lives and morals.

This guy is pretty great and he probably couldn’t seem more stereotypically Jewish unless he was wearing tefillin. He is also right about people who attack others by calling them “anti-semites.”
These celebrities gets caught at what would be a career killer for many people and all they have to do is a ten second sound bite apology, check into an expensive rehab center for a few weeks, and come out claiming they’re cured. This was more about being an asshole than being drunk. The real problem is our culture of celebrity worship.
Anyone seen the Godfather? The director is angry at Tom Hagen and starts using a bunch of anti-Italian slurs. Tom says ‘I’m German Irish’, and he responds with well listen here my Kraut Mick friend.
I think what Mel said makes him look good. Post #7 about sums up the environment he grew up in, and he’s angry and slightly drunk, and is being arrested by a Jewish cop, and that’s all he had to say? Jew’s start all these wars? We hear that all the time in Hollywood and from university professors when sober. And of course using a different word in place of jews, it gets said on this forum all the time. You would expect that his father in the same position would have been much worse.
Gibson said what he said because he means it. Thats right, he means it. The nasty drunk, the happy drunk etc, alchohol is just an amplifier of whatever inate personality is contained therein. So Gibsons tirade on the flatfoot was just his anti-semitic personality coming out for all to see.
I have been a mad drunk, a happy drunk, a sad drunk etc…..I have definitely said some and done stupid things when I was drunk. I have said things definitely never would have said or thought sober. It is not a truth serum. I have seen drunks talk to invisible people or they have totally random nonsensical conversations with you.
Who cares!?! Another egomanic Hollywood celebrity abusing drugs and alcohol and does stupid things. Stop the presses!
I think what is most remarkable is the fact that Mel survived abusing his arresting officers with his bones and butthole still intact. The average Joe spouting off to an officer like that when pulled over driving while very drunk would have ended up with a nightstick jammed up an uncomfortable place.
Perhaps people should be asking why he was treated with such kid gloves. I don’t give a rats ass what he thinks of Jews. I don’t like seeing people abuse police. And I don’t like seeing actors think they are exempt from the law.
Regarding his ranting…. two things come to mind:
(1) I can’t remember who said this… I think it was George Carlin. “Alcohol ENHANCES your personality… But what if you are an asshole?”
(2) From the James McMurtry’s song “Too Long In The Wasteland”… “Whisky doesn’t make liers. It just makes fools. I didn’t mean to say it. But I meant what I said.”
Ron I remember a similar line from a Bill Cosby HBO special from the 80’s. The difference was it was cocaine that intensifies you personality, and the questions was what if you’re an asshole.
Sounds like a LOT of people could learn a thing or two from old Jackie Mason. CHILL OUT!!!
