If you have a dell optiplex GX520 and a mobile phone try this but save your work first!

By putting the phone near the cdrom drive it will automatially go in to some weird stand by when you recieve a sms/txt and you can’t bring it back to live if you don’t shut it down first (either by cutting power or holding down power button for four seconds).

We have one in the office that shuts down for unknown reason. The power button blinks yellow. The only way to restore it is to cut the power. I wonder if this is the reason. Weird.

  2. ECA says:

Is there a Wireless port INSIDE???
I will BET, that its near the CD..

  3. Andrew says:

This only affects GSM phones which can broadcast at up to 2 watts. CDMA phones (Verizon, Sprint, Japan, Korea) can only broadcast at .6 watts.

  4. Marc says:

This is not new. I used to be able to reset PC’s with my radio when I worked at a hospital. Though that was 10 years ago.

  5. ECA says:

    3,
Its not Cellular. Its the Wireless.
Its a harmonic responce of having 2 Wireless devices TO CLOSE.
They pickup each others signals, and seems like 1 is reacting to what it THINKS is a shutdown notice, or a scrambled signal.

This is like picking up your HOME wirelss phone and hearing your Neibhor, your Refigg starting, Clicks on the line from Cars motors.

The Cellphone is sending and recieving, it recives the RING code, and sends back an Acknowledge code back to the sender. the comp is picking the code up and its trying to do something WITH IT.

  6. Ryan says:

@ #4 – FCC regulations state that all hand held cellular phones (GSM, CDMA, and TDMA) cannot transmit over .8xx watts. Not 2 watts.
