A manned aircraft powered by Panasonic’s “Oxyride” dry cell batteries flies at Okegawa Airport in Saitama July 16, 2006. In collaboration with the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Panasonic succeeded in their world’s first manned flight, cruising 269.22 metres (883.26 feet) in the air with 96 dry batteries.
While there seems to be some question about how many — of what size — batteries [apparently AA], it’s still a pretty impressive engineering project.
Yeah thats pretty cool, but they should have used duracell, the copper top battery 😉
They’ve done similatr stunts before, the most recent before this an electric car powered by two of their “AA” Oxyrides.
They were passed by a little rabbit beating a drum at 500 feet.
