From the days when drugs were drugs and you could buy many of the most potent over the counter.

  1. Brian says:

what image, is just me or does anyone else not see an image?

  2. ECA says:

I cant even see the link..

  3. John Wofford says:

1.I can see the image (with Firefox).
2.The original Coca-cola had minute amounts of cocaine in the mix, and it was a huge success.
    3. The TV adds? I think I’d prefer the disease to the side effects. But at least they do tell us about them.

  4. spsffan says:

    What, no Thalidomide?

  5. John Paradox says:

I should find and post my “Bayer Heroin” ad….. it’s an actual ad from the 40’s I believe.

    J/P=?

  6. Uncle Dave says:

The pictures and link seem to work. They are very slow, at least for me.

  7. BHK says:

It’s amazing that we didn’t have a problem with 50% of the population being addicted to drugs and killing their parents and living in homeless shelters. It’s a good thing we criminalized the possession and distribution of all these dangerous substances so that noone would use them again and those few silly enough to do so could be thrown in prison and have their lives destroyed by the system rather than by the drugs.

  8. ECA says:

    yep, its funny..
that if the drugs were legislated, as NOT OF VALUE, and cannot be sold, then no one would sell the stuff..
They might GROW their own, but they CERTAINLY wouldnt be out killing each other to GET MORE…

  9. doug says:

very interesting. it would seem these days that we are more afraid of the pain-killers than the pain. it is interesting to see a sample of the time when doctors were allowed to prescribe the heavy-duty stuff. and weren’t these the Happy Golden Days that conservatives are always harking back to? or has the over-the-counter opium been sanitized from that particular flashback?

  10. The drug addicts ruined it for everyone.
When a patient really needs a powerful medication they can’t get it.

  11. doug says:

actually, I would say that the drug warriors ruined it for everyone. they would rather see sick people suffering than take the risk that some of the drugs wind up on the street.

    talk about screwed up priorities.
