This is yet another cool application for these devices.
SanDisk® Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), the world’s largest supplier of flash memory card storage products, and Skype™, the global Internet communications company, have announced that Skype users can now make free calls and chat on almost any PC without having to download software. The Skype software will now come pre-loaded on SanDisk’s newest Cruzer® Micro and Cruzer Titanium lines of Skype-certified U3™ enabled smart drives. This will allow consumers to make free PC-to-PC audio and video calls to Skype users in most major markets.
I already use mine for just about everything, and this is just more icing on the cake.
I actually just bought one of these yesterday and I’m lovin’ it.
Im waiting for a Cellphone, that has the attachments you WISH to add.
And Ram cards or USB connection for extra stuff.
Just got a 1GB version on 7/10, after loading up all the apps I want on the thing, I realized I needed to go get a 2GB version. I love it.
Little piece of USB stick, add the right mix of application, and voila, make more $$ off of me, and I am happy about it!
…only if they add a little mic and speaker so I don’t have to worry about a headset for Skype!
The auto-run apps on USB sticks make great hacking tools. Don’t plug one in to your PC if you don’t know where it’s been.
It’s cool unless you live in a country that doesn’t have net-neutrality! Over here, all VOIP is blocked because the internet service provider hopes to one-day offer their own.
Did you put it there, or did the device come with it?
Greg: Over here, where?
YAy ! Just what I needed. More hardware that does nothing to imporve my quality of life.
Sounds like a personal problem to me…
Don — I believe Greg lives and works in the Indian sub-continent. That’s why his comments vary from our usual time zones.
Sorry… I didn’t check back on this post. I didnt think anyone would respond to my cranky complaining.
I live in Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
I frequently travel in the region and have lived for years in Pakistan and India so I mention them often.
