YouTube doesn’t just have goofy videos. It also has clips from TV shows and music videos that would be lost in private collections if it didn’t exist. Hopefully the evil RIAA doesn’t shut them down.
This starts with an interview with Collins (who’s the man in the white suit?) and goes into Moore and Collins playing Further On Down The Road which includes their guitars talking to each other. Lots of other amazing blues videos on YouTube, too, like this finale to a show with Big Momma Thornton, John Lee Hooker, J.B. Lenoir and others on harmonica. Wow!
As a listener and reader of your colomns and podcasts, it delights me to see that you too love the blues. Patrick Norton would be struck dumb.
thanx.
Amazing video, thanks Dave.
Collins is a fantastic guitarist, much more versitile then we see on this one video. I often wondered if he would sound any different using a Strat instead of a Tele.
His appearance with George Thoroughgood during Live Aid ’85 was really cool.
Matter of fact..that is one of my favorite DVD collections – Live Aid ’85. You can ‘rent’ it from Netflix (it is so good, I actually bought it after renting)

I find YouTube invaluable for this type of thing. You have to wonder how much longer YouTube can last. Its days are probably numbered, for a variety of reasons.
Wonderful!
This is just the type of thing that sells records and DVDs. I love a good performance, and these bluesmen sure know how to handle a guitar. Add to that, I know have knowledge about a great artist previously unknown to me, and I’m ready to get a few CDs.
I’m sure the RIIA would love to shut this one down if they could, though…
peace,
Tormod
“the guy in the white suit” is the legendary blues player Albert King. You’re not much of a blues fan if you don’t know that.
Listening to Albert King’s music doesn’t mean I’ve ever seen him.
of most to the second wave video dumps youtube seems to have broken out from the rest. i wonder how much of that has to do with hooking up with sequoia cap… hooking up with them is like pulling into a startup into a world class management team…
Great find! I’m a blue fan too!
p.s. Long Live Johnny Lee (Hooker)!
Ooop, meant to say “blues fan”.
HELLO!
To you so called blues fans, that second clip is ripped from the American Folk Blues Festival Vol. 1 DVD.
If you don’t already know that or don’t own those DVDs (there are three in the series). Where the hell have you been?
#6, That guy in the white suit is Albert Collins. For some pictures of Collins,

Albert King, whom I admire even more died in 1992. He played left handed upside down. I’ve only seen King playing Gretch and Gibsons, never a Fender.

Dave, ya got it right the first time.
