A message about nitroglycerin and President Bush found scrawled in the hold of a cargo ship just in from Guatemala shut down a Southern California deep-water port for several hours Monday, but federal investigators found no explosives.
The harbor in Ventura County was closed just before noon after a dockworker discovered the writing in the hold of the ship, which was carrying a load of bananas, said Will Berg, the port’s marketing director.
Federal authorities said it was written in English and read: “Nitro + glycerin my gift for G. W. Bush and his Jewish gang.”
If someone with a magic marker in the hold of a banana boat can throw this much panic into Homeland Insecurity — imagine what would happen if one of these courageous bureaucrats took a walk through one of our urban Edens of poverty.
…and yet a few comments from Ann Coulter gives the same effect to liberals. What a thrill….
Talk about paranoia
Wow, the article doesn’t even have to mention Ann Coulter anymore for people to come out swinging to defend her.
Uh, userclueless — the proper definition of your “comment” is non sequitor.
When did any comment about any of the Phalange cost taxpayer dollars?
I got it now! Userclue1 isn’t a handle, its a plea for help!
My guess is that if Homeland Security did ignore the report and it was a bomb, you’d be complaining that they didn’t do anything. They aren’t omniscient, so they are to have to take some precautions that later turn out to be unneeded. When civil liberties are repeatedly trampled it is a harder cost/benefit analysis, but in this case, it seems like an entirely reasonable precaution to me.
Funny how when Ann Coulter slams someone, the liberals call her a Nazi and a witch.
With this in mind, what do we call those of you who insist on taking this to a personal level? Progressives or hypocrites? Most certainly not ‘god’.
Your leadership warms my soul; future generations will truly have mentors to look ‘down’ on.
#7.
Another Neocon shuffle. Insult everyone around, then play the “I’m better than that” game when it comes back ’round.
Start dancing.
Dear God,
I believe you may have made a spelling mistake in your comment above. I hope you excuse my poor grammar in future prayers.
Thanks,
Your second favorite son.
P.S. Isn’t non sequitur a term Dvorak often uses?
Actually, Matthew, in common parlance, there are 3 acceptable spellings — ar, or and ur. Latin scholars argue about that kind of crap all the time.
Is Matthew the second favorite? I though Mark was….
Hugo Chavez must be laughing his butt off!
I can just see the next few ships from Venezuela unfurling big banners with similar threats… as they dock in US ports.
Oh, the hilarity that would ensue! [grin]
This could become as popular in ships’s holds as the “Kilroy was here!” message left by US troops in WW2.
NO,
Homa land sec, would see EVERYTHING happening in slow motion, they would be handed the WHOLE agenda, in triplicut, THEN..NOt say anthing, and watch the UN building fall down.
