Someone had to do it!

Rowling to kill two in final Potter book – Yahoo! News — Let me get this straight. She says she didn’t intend for the two characters to die? Then who wrote these books?

Children’s author J.K. Rowling has revealed that at least two characters will die in the seventh and final installment of her bestselling Harry Potter series, but was careful not to say who.

Children and adults are expected to rush and buy the final Harry Potter novel in their tens of millions when it is complete, and if the publication of the sixth book is anything to go by, secrecy surrounding the plot will be tight.

Rowling has already said that the final chapter of the seventh book was written long ago.

“The final chapter is hidden away, although it’s now changed very slightly,” she said in an interview broadcast on Monday on Britain’s Channel 4. “One character got a reprieve, but I have to say two die that I didn’t intend to die.”

Maybe the story comes to in her dreams, or maybe in the basement where she does her witchcraft.

    1.) harry potter
    2.) tom riddle

    those are the 2 charcters

    I just saved u 2 years of your life + 20 bucks

  5. DogWings says:

The real question is… who cares?

  6. Mark T. says:

I wonder if this is going to be like when Superman was killed. BTW, how did he come back to life?

I just don’t see why she would want to kill off the biggest cash cow book series of all time. She could write those books for another twenty years.

  7. Gregory says:

He came back to life by being regenerated by a fancy Krypton gadget in his North Pole hideaway.

This is after about 4 other supermen turned up, and when he came back he wasn’t regular supes, but an energy superman.

    So lame.

  8. Johnny-Cakes says:

Who cares? I actually care. Yeah, I’m a 44 year old man, but I really enjoyed these books. It’s been a fun ride and hey, it’s gotten a TON of kids to read books!

Imagine that, in this time of computers, videogames, TVs etc etc, kids are actually reading books. But no, let’s not appreciate that, let’s all be cynical and let everyone know how so above this we all are.

  9. doug says:

    6. Rowling is already phenominally rich, so I imagine that she feels rather comfortable ending the HP series so she can move on to either writing something else and/or buying a bunch of islands in French polynesia.

  10. Bryan K says:

I agree with #8 on this one. How many kids always thought reading was stupid, or pointless, you know with the movies and the norp so easilly available.

It atleast got some children to use their imaginations, sit down, and read a bloody book for a change. And the whole ‘she didn’t mean to kill them’ let me help you with that one.

Some authors, when they write, they just start thinking on paper and just writing to get through a writers block. She probably wrote a bunch of stuff, with no idea in mind on what she wanted it to be, and then was like OMG I killed Harry …. oh well …

“One character got a reprieve, but I have to say two die that I didn’t intend to die.” Rawlings

This is exactly why I’m not an advocate of pen control. Pens don’t kill… people do!

Someone wipe that smirk off Rawlings face! She’s guilty as hell.

  12. chris says:

well number 8 scares me since he is 44 and into this series that bad.
Honestly what she is doing is nice to me. If you read the article it will say that she does not want anyone else writing about harry potter and taking the idea and messing it up IE star trek. (or star wars if you count lucas just being dumb)

Its her books to kill who gives a shit? I think its nice she will take this series out on top. Do we need more crap like Kiss doing a farewell tour again? Nothing lasts forever.

Personally i want the bastard to die. The movies are cute but i can not stand watching them over and over. Or the fans. potter fans have trekkies saying get a life. I hope harry dies horribly and hard.

  13. BgScryAnml says:

    Kirk & Spock

  14. Jetfire says:

#12 Trekkies are just jealous of Potter fans. Since Potter Fans are more excepted by other people. You never saw a news cast about schools have Trek day like you do Harry Potter days. Also the title is wrong she never said they were Main Characters just two characters that she didn’t intend to die . Also this doesn’t mean that other’s won’t die either.

  15. Johnny-Cakes says:

#12…should we contact the police or FBI to come to your house and arrest the person holding a gun to your head and forcing you to watch these movies “over and over”?

And as for me reading them, my son read them and they were laying around. I read them myself instead of having someone else tell me what’s in them and what to think about them. Guess I should be just another typical parent and just throw a Nintendo at him and forget him.

If he lives or dies it really doesn’t matter to me as it’s just a character and as I said, it’s been a fun ride. I certainly don’t take them serious enough to “want the bastard to die” like you seem to. Lighten up sparky. It will be okay.

  16. Improbus says:

I bet Hermione kills Harry Potter and Ron Weasley in a fit of magical PMS.

  17. Peter Hill says:

Ron dies to save Harry. Malfoy gets what he deserves.

  18. Mr. H. Fusion says:

Its fiction for God’s sake. Get over it !!!

While interesting, none of this overshadows the daily body count of a senseless conflict in Iraq or Israel preparing to again invade Palestine and kill thousands more. In real life there is a President and Congress more bent on taking our civil rights then promoting our general welfare.

  19. Walt says:

    She’s probably killing off 2 additional people…
I figure that Nevil Longbottom will have to kill Harry Potter as he is holding the final peice of Voldomort’s soul in his skull. (or maybe he took it back when he was regenerated in Goblet of Fire…Hmmmmm)

Anyway, the writing process is always fluid. Perhaps Rowling realized in the process of getting to that “final chapter” she has locked away, 2 more people had to die to finish the story. Either way, it’s her story and she gets to tell it.
I’m almost 40 and I enjoy the books. They read well, and and I enjoy discussing the stories with my neices and nephews.

  20. Bruce IV says:

She must be killing people off by the dozens/hundreds, if killing off another two main characters means only “minor changes” in the final chapter … crazy (nearly as crazy as the fact that the book will probably weigh as much as a small child and cost more than a PS3 …)

  21. estacado says:

Lot’s of fiction writers come up with their stories on a seperate thread of thought. They don’t consciously have control over what happens on that thread of thought. The “writer” thread has it’s own autonomy over it’s course. So, you will meet several fiction writers, espeacially the good ones, that will say the he/she was shocked that this character did this and that because as they are writing the story, it is as if they’re watching a movie of the story in their head. Not everybody can do that.
