    I was half-expecting to see the frame blotted out by a white mass and turn dark at the end.

    I gotta wonder what caused them to swarm like that — flocking behavior, sure, but what was the attraction of those two trees?

    I have seen starlings flock like that many times. I haven’t detected any pattern as to why they pick certain trees. One year, a HUGE swarm of them were roosting around my ma-in-law’s house. About three years later, they returned again for a few days.
