A company called Apple-Discounts is holding a contest to create new Apple products. See more ideas at their website.

What would you want from Apple?

  1. Eideard says:

The HDTV Mini is what I’m waiting for them to come out with. I’m saving my pennies, now.

  2. Bruce IV says:

I think the “MacPlay” is a little funny – aren’t Apples known for being poor gaming systems? Looks uncomfortable to hold too – too thin and wide. Like the idea for Mac mini 2.0 though.

  3. Improbus says:

iRead – eBook reader … The only problem would be it would cost to much.

  4. James Hill says:

Eideard, going to take a shot with the current MacMini as an HTPC? I’ve heard a lot of good things about it (more than with the PC variety, which I still curse to this day).

I’m considering getting one myself, as a movie player/storage in my theater and a jukebox (extended by a few Airport Expresses) for the rest of the house.

As for my wish, I’d like to see a more commerical one-size-fits-most crack at the MacMini plus 7″ LCD for cars. A number of sites are doing this now, but none sell a straightforward solution I could drop in my car.

  5. Eideard says:

We’re a 2-Mini family, now. One PowerPC and one Intel. I lurk at the Mac HTPC AVS Forum; but, I’m waiting till we get [1] better prices on the new round of Nx wireless routers — or Apple comes out with one — and [2] I get the new MPG4 HD-DVR that DirecTV is supposed to swap out for my original. Rumor says in the next 3 months — if you believe.

The rumor is that the latter will be networkable out of the box. Then, I can start putting the whole thing together.

Of course, if Apple comes out with something like the pictured Mini 2.0 — then, we do the jog down the line and either my father-in-law or my grand-niece gets the original PowerPC Mini, etc., etc.. And Apple owns my Social Security check.

Hey, how’s the forest fire smoke over your way? Uncle Dave says it’s heavy in his neck of the woods. It seems to settle in on us in northern NM at sunset.

  6. Uncle Dave says:

Uh, oh! I think we crashed the Apple Discounts server.

  7. doug says:

the iPod Time with stereo bluetooth headphones would be cool. of course, the battery life would probably be 15 minutes or so …

me, for the real video iPod, I want them to steal the screen from the PSP, slap a 60gb hard-drive behind it. touch screen translucent click-wheel with a finger print resistant surface. combine that with iTunes TV and movie downloads, and you got a killer PMP.

  8. GregAllen says:

Looks like a scam to me. You give them the idea for next huge killer piece of hardware and you MIGHT win the whopping grand prize of $250 …and not even in cash! It’s a gift certificate!

  9. Henry Fong says:

Wonder what will people think of next?

  10. jimimimi123 says:

i like the mac play the best….u should make that one everyone(including me) would buy it!!!good luck!!
