In case you missed the Simpson’s take on Soccer. And so you will know what you are missing.

I agree that American pro and college football have too many commercial timeouts to keep people focused for more than a few plays at a time. If you want to see a really exciting game of American football, I recommend you watch any local High School football game for $5. It is much more entertaining and fast paced.

And the players are there for school pride (and chicks), not for the million dollar salaries. That is where you will see some real passionate football.

  2. Ron Larson says:

As a yank living in Australia, I get a lot of snide comments about what pussies American “gridiron” (what they call our football) player are. They think that because they wear all that padding, they must be a bunch of wimps. Aussie Rules Football (Footie) payers don’t wear padding.

What they fail to comprehend is that the padding also allows the other player to hit you that much harder. If they didn’t have that padding, every bone in their body would be crushed. If you want to know what it is like to be hit by an NFL rusher, stand in front of a train.

And unlike Aussie Rules and Rugy, US gridiron features full bore high-speed attacks. The game has players that were raised from birth to do nothing but kill a quarterback.

#29 “American football is all about strategy, much like chess. ”

Comparing strategy of American football and chess should be punishable by law.

#34 “#33 “but much of the strategy there is done on the fly without taking a break after every ten seconds of action so that they can get another commercial break in.”

American football has been played that way long before commercials came along. Nice try.”

    That’s not a try, that’s a fact!

#36 “What they fail to comprehend is that the padding also allows the other player to hit you that much harder. ”

What you fail to comprehend is that this very same padding absorbs that hit. Try getting hit with the fist and boxing glove…

  4. ECA says:

    Ummm,
THERE ARE sports that draw more persons, then american sports.
Soccor, Rugby, Aussie football, even cricket draw more world wide then AMERICAN sports.
Out of 5 billion world wide, and the US not even 10% of that number, the rest of the world has ALOT better choice of what sports they wish to see, and NOT just what makes money or is broadcast on TV.

  10. Eideard says:

Still, Luis Figo should think about retiring. Does anyone know if he plans a career in coaching? He’s a bright guy and might be a great coach.

  11. Pedro Pardal says:

    American Retards…

That God bless Portugal and the Portuguese team!!

  12. J. PT says:

American people hates Soccer because they don’t understand it, too many rules maybe. Well, we hate american football because it’s just a bunch of rudes shocking with each other to take a ball.

Liking or disliking a sport depends on the culture of the people and the point of view of each person.
